You're fucking cheating on me?!
You felt your heart fall into your stomach.
Who the fuck is Kagami?!
Your phone, where was your phone?
I can not-- You've been fucking around with this Kagami guy?!
The desire to yell back sat at the back of your throat, the words you wanted to say already being imagined in your head. No, you've been cheating on me, Daiki. You've been the one fucking around while I waited at home, while I worked at my job so I could have a happy home with a husband I loved. Not a husband who forgot about his wife at 11pm, while she tried to sleep knowing that you were cheating on her. A wife who would wake up sometimes still drunk from the night before, when she felt as if she was useless. When she felt like she deserved your infidelity.
He stood in front of you, his eyes searching for an answer in your teary eyes. He was hoping; hoping for a reason that made sense, that would provide him some relief from the rage he felt.
"How was your business trip? Was she good?" The words came out of your mouth without you even being aware of it.
Daiki's mouth fell shut. Was he shocked that you knew about what he was doing behind your back? It wasn't the hardest thing to realise. The tension between the two of you made it harder to breathe, as if the air was slowly making its way out of the room, no longer wanting to be in the presence of such a messed up relationship. Daiki turned away. He couldn't look at you any more. He grabbed his most important possessions and left. The front door slammed and it felt as if the whole house was shaking. Or maybe that was just you.
Everything came crashing down - your sanity, the pent up emotions that you didn't want Daiki to witness, your will to even stand on your legs any more. The carpet was the closest thing to safety, and in that moment, nothing else mattered besides the fact that Daiki and you no longer existed. Daiki was the man that stood before you as you spoke the vows that you spent nights writing. Except, now he was the man that you couldn't love without feeling pain.
You wanted to speak to someone. But there was no one there. The first person that came to your mind was Kagami. Reaching for your phone, you called his, hoping that this person could comfort you just a little.
Kagami, hello?
Oh, (your name). Hey, listen, I know that it's random but I've been meaning to tell you something important.
Kagami-
Wait, I have to tell you this. We can't do what we're doing any more. I found someone, and I really think that this is it. I'm sorry. But I hope that you and Daiki will work out. So what did you want to say?
Oh, uh, forget it. Congratulations.
