For some people, there is always one person that fulfils a certain connection. For Maeko, that person was Kuroko Tetsuya.

They were no strangers to each other, in fact quite the opposite. Both being students arriving from Teiko, Maeko and Kuroko knew each other well.

Maeko was always wondering how she had befriended a quiet boy like Kuroko. She was cheery and could have the biggest heart one second and then horns of the devil in the next. Kuroko was the neutral, peaceful type that had a unusual, calming aura that followed him.

"Kuro-kun?" Small hands landed on Kuroko's shoulders, "I have to tell you something."

Just from the small amount of contact, a light pink had already settled itself on Kuroko's cheeks.

"Yes, Maeko?"

She stepped back a little and placed her hands behind her back. They were both in full view of each other and Maeko resisted the urge to stare at him.

"Well..." She was beginning to get nervous, and her eyes flickered from the ground to her shoes.

"I like you, Kuro-kun. It's weird and unexplainable but there's just something about you that makes me happy." Silence filled the air as Kuroko's eyes widened while Maeko bit on her lip.

"I-I don't expect you to return my feelings, Kuro-kun. I just had to let it out, but if you want to stay as friends, that's fine." Maeko's usual smile returned to her shy expression, but the shakiness in her voice revealed her fear of rejection.

She really liked him.

It felt forever had passed by as Maeko turned to leave before Kuroko's hand shot out and took hold of her wrist. They just stood there, Maeko's body half-turned away while her right wrist was in the grasp of a surprised Tetsuya.

"I like you, Maeko." Kuroko tugged on her wrist, pulling Maeko into a tight embrace. Considering that Kuroko wasn't the tallest boy out there, Maeko was only a little shorter than him, which upset Kuroko. When would he get the chance to place his chin on her head while they hugged?

"Always have."
