He paused mid-sentence, a cheeky smile lifting up the corners of his lips.

-to be your prince.

You stared down at him dumbfounded, heart racing and palms becoming clammy.

My.. Prince?

You murmured, more to yourself than to him. The words felt so foreign and an indescribable feeling spread through your chest. It felt warm - even though the night air was freezing and your measly night gown was not something suitable for the temperature.

Come down, princess!

Takao waved, motioning you down. Although there was a small chance of finding a way down to where he stood, you experienced no hesitation, grabbing a coat and slipping on a pair of shoes.

You could only get down, without being caught, by climbing from the window. The idea was crazy and you couldn't focus your mind on a single thing.

Princess!

Takao called, pulling your attention to him.

Jump. I'll catch you.

You almost screamed at his suggestion, feeling your knees become weak.

No, I am not doing that!

Your eyes narrowed - almost becoming slits. He grinned, a playful one that sent mixed feelings and you had an urge to jump.

I promise I'll catch you!

Besides his cheeky smile, his expression looked sincere enough.

I'm trusting you.

He nodded vigorously, eyes never leaving yours. Arms outstretched, he waited patiently as you willed yourself to jump, one leg already leaning out the open window. At last, both your legs were outside dangling and Takao nodded, eyes sparkling in excitement and determination.

You shut your eyes, trying to make his voice lull you forward. It's okay, he'll catch me, he'll definitely catch me.

Exhaling a deep breath you had forgotten that you had even taken, you took one last glance at your empty bed - the one you could be sound asleep in instead of jumping off your window sill.

3!

You pushed off the window sill and jumped. Air rushed upwards past your limps and you felt your night gown lift up just a little before everything came to a sudden stop.

Told you I'd catch you.

His voice felt like he was speaking right beside your ear. The smile in it was so evident and easy to hear that you gave one back, lips curling up in pure happiness.

I'll always catch you, I'm your prince after all.
