Your whole family was cliche. Whether it was a curse or a blessing, nonetheless you hated it. Your mum was the middle class girl who found her prince charming, your sister was the sassy ruling queen of high school who fell for the spectacled tsundere, and your brother was the sporty, snuck-up popular guy who chased the quiet, studious girl. You wanted to escape into reality.
But where was there to run to? Cliche was everywhere, cliche was in the air you breathed. No matter how many times you turned down a confession, another would find the courage to do the same. Your parents would ask you continuously if you had found the one, the guy that would sweep you off your feet. Except, you didn't want the guy that would sweep you off your feet, you wanted someone who would keep you safe and secure on the ground, not up in the clouds in a world full of fantasies.

The squeaky sounds of sneakers against wood and the loud thumps of a basketball hitting the floor made it harder for you to concentrate.
You were completing homework for (favourite subject) while you waited for your brother to come and take you home after he finished his practice. Since they were going to end a little later than usual, he had told you to wait for him at the school gym. Inside or outside, he hadn't specified, so you took a seat inside, since the basketball coach was a friend.
"Excuse me, can you get a bottle of water for me?" One of the players in the team called out to you.
You lifted your head to tell him that there was no reason for you to have to get anything for anyone, but the words got caught in your throat.
He was a certain sight that you couldn't tear your eyes off. It made you nervous, since whenever you saw a one of the basketball members panting and sweaty from practice, it was nothing to marvel at, but here you were, speechless. Maybe it was just because he was suddenly so close to you. When he called out, you were sure he was at least down at the court.
Then it hit you. He was the one. He was your prince charming, he was the spectacled boy that you would fall for, he was the one that the curse had made for you. It was nerve-racking, the way he stared down at your seated figure, the way he had one hand heavily placed on his hip out of exhaustion, everything about him found a way to make you feel intrigued.
"Uh, I-I am not who you think I am.." You stuttered, making you want to slap yourself. You needed to wake up.
"If you're not going to get me water then-"
"Wait!" You frantically searched for your water bottle, glad that it was nowhere near empty, "It's mine but it's the closest water I can get for you."
He took it from your hands, your fingers brushing gently against his, causing butterflies to develop. Taking a large gulp from it, you mentally fainted. You had just basically indirectly kissed him!
He wiped excess water from his mouth and handed it back to you, thanking you with a wide grin. Jogging back down, he went back to dribbling, passing and shooting. You never took your eyes of him, and you were shocked when he turned to look at you with a small wave.
And no matter how much you wanted to hate it, you couldn't stop yourself from thinking that this curse would turn out to be a blessing after all.
