| Kiyoshi Teppei |

Why are you so cold all the time?

You couldn't help it. Your true self was always pounding at the wall you had created, wanting so badly to be released. Sometimes it finally made a hole, but that was always repaired in no time. You called it a defence mechanism. Because it did defend you. For years, you let the grief of your fallen comrades attack you. The sorrow that came to you every night crushed your heart further and further. Unable to experience it any more, you sought to the closest thing that would protect you - yourself. It was, somehow, simple, to shut down all the people trying to find a place in your life. No matter how long someone tried to break down the barrier around your heart, it was hopeless.  The nightmares still arrived in your sleep, but at least there wasn't any new faces you had to see.

Except, there was one problem. Kiyoshi Teppei. He was kind-hearted, mature, intelligent, and also the only person, that had gotten extremely close to plopping himself right in your heart, in years.

"You're pretty hard to talk to, you know that?" He'd say something like this with a warm smile. However, something you disliked with all of your body was that he would always encourage his soldiers with the phrase Let's go have fun! which was the last thing war was. You had seen the worse of the battlefield. There was blood and pain-stricken cries, and you fought with the smell of rotting bodies lingering in the air, although that was the least of your worries. What you hated was the moments when a body fell, and you'd catch a glimpse only to realise that that face was a friend of yours, a lover or even a relative.

A lover. You had not had one in a long time, and you weren't planning on having another. But that was your mindset before Kiyoshi Teppei barged in with his tall figure and a tattooed seven on his right arm. A number he found special, is what he said when you asked.

You weren't sure if it was the way he talked, caring and without malice, or the way he protected his soldiers the best he could. Or maybe it was the way he'd glance at you everytime you passed by. There was always something in his eyes, something that felt like trouble but somehow you knew that you were more than happy to comply. You noticed that Kiyoshi coming to your side of the camp to watch your squad train became more frequent, and the conversations you had found a neat place in your heart, past the barrier.

He was slowly making his way into your heart. The desire to completely get rid of the wall burned at the back of your mind, but you weren't letting him without a challenge.

While a war occurred outside the camp, another one raged on inside you.
