Enjoy reading one of the cheesiest, unoriginal one shots I've written (with an eh ending haha)

| Kotaro Hayama |

"Why are we eating at a fancy restaurant all of a sudden?" You smoothed down the dress you had frantically dug to the bottom of your closet for.

"Just thought I'd do something different to our usual date nights." Kotaro shrugged as he poked at his steak.

What's up with him?

You glanced down at the black pumps that felt like they were glued to your feet and winced. You looked up at Kotaro but his nervous face didn't help one bit.

"You okay?"

"Huh?" He was acting like he was in a completely different world and a layer of sweat coated your palms.

"You seem kind of out of it. Did something happen with work? Did your sister say something again? I know she doesn't like me that much but I'll get her to trust me sometime." You smiled warmly, but Kotaro's facial expression didn't change. Your heart fell and anxiety settled in.

Is this a breakup?

"Everything's fine. How's your food?" Kotaro hurriedly changed the subject, smacking on a fake smile.

"Uh," Taken aback by the sudden change in subject, you awkwardly poked the plate of food in front of you, "It's okay. I wasn't really in the mood for such fancy food today."

You noticed the sad fall in Kotaro's face and panicked.

Did I say something wrong?

You and Kotaro didn't speak a single a word after and a foreboding atmosphere settled between the two of you. Once you had finished the main dishes, you and Kotaro, with almost-full stomachs, waited patiently for desert to come.

"I'll be right back." Kotaro got out of his seat and headed towards the bathroom. You pulled out your phone and checked the time.

Ah, it's pretty late.

A waiter suddenly placed a fancy cake in front of you and your mouth watered. You grabbed your fork and was about to dig in before a silver glint in the corner of your eye diverted your attention. Before you could even figure out what it was Kotaro took it with shaking hands.

"What was tha-" The fork in your hand clattered and fell onto the table.

"(Your name), I know that tonight was a night you didn't expect to have. I know that tonight threw you off and that you want to rip those heels off your feet, but I hope that tonight would be a night you'll never forget. I hope that one day you'll be searching around in your closet for some clothes to wear and you'll come across the beautiful dress you're wearing right now and you're mind will take you back to this night.

I'm not someone who prepares things perfectly to the very last detail, but I'm not someone who won't try the best they can for the person they want to spend the rest of their life with. I know that when we first started dating, I was someone who barely paid attention to you and brushed you off whenever basketball came to subject, but I hope that you can see past all that.

I'm hopelessly in love with you and imagining myself without you in my life is the worst thing that could ever happen to me. So, (your name), with that all said, would you do me the honours of being my wife?" He looked up at you with a sparkle in his eyes that melted your heart and you felt like the world was disappearing around the two of you.

"..Yes," You knees almost gave out and you crumbled into his arms, "A hundred percent yes!"

Kotaro carefully slipped on the ring he held and your heart fluttered.

"Thank you," His smile was unbelievably bright and his snaggle tooth was never as cute as it was tonight, "For everything."

I love you.
