It's one-sided. You know it from his friendly smiles and the way he puts his arm around your shoulders so easily. You can see it when he blushes around other girls and when he simply leaves you behind to talk to your friends. It leaves a hole in your heart that you'll never be able to fill and it pulls you into nights of tears and the sport of binge-eating ice cream.

But he doesn't change.

He's still the same boy who grinned at you with muddy cheeks and the same guy who stood by you when you were crying over your first heartbreak. He's still who you wished would be your first kiss because all the other guys scared you. He doesn't change into someone who you can just glance over, or someone who will always be second to another guy. He's still the first and, despite the heartaches, you want it to stay that way.
