Being in the 104th Cadet corps training in all honesty, kicked your ass. You couldn't master your ODM gear for the life of you. though you expressed your frustration silently, Shadis always had a bone to pick with you. Not because you struggled greatly, but because he knew you could take it. Titan training was something you dreaded, but on the bright note, you met another Cadet named Reiner Braun who didn't let you fall behind and made sure you got to at least the passing point.

In the middle of bootcamp, The colossal titan had appeared at at the outer wall of Sina and breached it causing a herd of titans to flood through the streets. You would have died that day if it wasn't for another cadet named Eren Jaeger who somehow shifted into a titan and took out all the remaining ones. You were bewildered about there being such thing as a titan shifter. Thankfully that didn't cloud your judgement on the survey corps.

Graduation came and you of course didn't make top 10 but you were satisfied just to have made it as far as you did. You could've honestly cared less about placement, you knew you worked hard enough.

"Tough shit you went through, glad you didn't give up" Reiner spoke turning to you once graduation had ended. "What's pulling you in?"

"Without a doubt the Scout Regiment" you smiled as your eyes looked up to Reiner's "You?"

"I'm gonna sat the same" Reiner smiled as he placed his elbow on your shoulder. You chuckled and pushed him off nearly knocking him to his feet.

"Alright, let's go get some food. I'm starving" you huffed as you waited for him to gather his footing before taking off toward the mess hall.

Night rolled around and all of the 104th cadets had gathered back in front of the stage awaiting for further instructions. After minutes of chattering, a tall broad blonde haired man approached the middle of the stage. The crowd of cadets fell silent instantly and a salute escaped ever single cadet, including you.

"I am Erwin Smith, Commander of the Survey Corps." The man began to speak, his voice loud and confident. "Tonight you will choose a military branch. But rather Put bluntly, I'm here to persuade you to join the Survey Corps. During the titan attack, you learned how terrifying they could be. Including how limited your own power is." There was a pause after that sentence where the Commander took a minute to scan the lines of cadets. "However, this battle brought humanity closer to victory than its ever been. Through Eren Jaegers existence, by risking his own life, he's proven himself. Without a doubt, a friend to humanity. With his help, not only did we stop the titans' advance, but we have a way to discover their true nature." He paused once again as he scanned the crowd. Almost as if he were looking for something. There was a moment his eyes fell on you before he went back to scanning the crowd. His eyes lingered just on you for mere seconds but it seemed like minutes.

"We will find the clue that will end this century of titan rule." He took a breath before continuing " Any trainees who join will participate in our excursion beyond the walls, in a month." A sudden fear flushed through your body causing you to shake lightly. You gulped as you attempted to regain your composure but Reiner caught on and turned his head to face you.

"You okay YN?" He whispered in which you immediately nodded not wanting him to get in trouble. Your eyes fell back forward to be met with Commander Erwin's once again.

"Those who survive will become superior soldiers with a higher survival rate. Knowing all this, any of those willing to risk their lives, remain here." His eyes still locked into you as if he could sense your fear of the reality of being a scout. "Anyone who wishes to join another branch is dismissed" he finished as he kept his eye on you for a few more moments before they averted to the cadets breaking away. Numerous thoughts were running through your head at that very moment. But you knew you had to overpower your brain and stand your ground. You exhaled sharply as you adjusted your footing and bright your attention back up to the stage. Once the cadets that wanted to leave left, there were only few that stood. Less than maybe 15 cadets stood left. The commanders eyes fell on you and he left you with a nod before one of his scouts pulling him from his gaze.

"You are all dismissed, we will meet back here tomorrow 6am to proceed further." The commander finished before turning his back to face his known scouts. You stood there in shock of it all. You really are pulling through with this. The most dangerous branch of the military, Titans, possible death. It all terrified you.

"Hey YN, you good?" A sudden voice popped up as a hand touched your shoulder causing you to jump. You turned your face to be greeted with Armin.

"Hey, uh yeah I'm okay, just shocked I didn't leave" you confessed.

"Yeah me too" Armin huffed as he rubbed the back of his neck. "We got this, we'll look out for each other" he smiled reassuringly.

"Of course!" You responded as you saw Reiner approaching with Bertholdt. "You guys stayed"

"I'm just as baffled" Bertholdt spoke with a nervous chuckle.

"If we just stick together, it'll be no problem" Reiner chimed in.

"I guess so" you shrugged your shoulders. "Though going beyond the walls.... In a month. That doesn't spike your anxiety?"

"I mean sure it's nerve racking but it's doable" Reiner spoke confidently. "YN I won't let anything happen to you" he finished off reassuring you.

"You can't always be there Reiner" Bertholdt added.

"I'll catch you guys later" Armin spoke, his eyes catching sight of Mikasa.

"See ya Armin" you sent him a small wave, watching him turned to depart from the group.

"Bertholdt is right, Reiner. You can't babysit me 24/7. I'll either be able to take care of myself or I won't. Whatever happens, happens." You shrugged your shoulders once more looking at the ground. "As long as my death meant something..."

"Hey knock that off, you're not gonna talk like that." Reiner spoke sternly almost as if he were disgusted at your response.

"Cadets" A sudden deep voice appeared from behind you. In which you whipped around to be greeted with the Commander.

"Sir" you three spoke in unison as you saluted.

"At ease, why are you three still here? You will need your rest" the commander spoke out his eyes glancing at the boys and then at you.

"We we're just headed that way sir. Goodnight YN" Bertholdt spoke as he planted his hand on Reiner's  shoulder signaling them to leave. Reiner sent you a goodbye glance before following behind Bertholdt.

"Goodnight s-" you began to say before the commander cut you off.

"You seemed scared half to death when I mentioned the expedition in a month. Why did you stay?" He asked genuinely curious.

"Joining the military has always been a dream of mine along with venturing outside the walls but after witnessing the Titans first hand and what they're capable of, I've been going through many second thoughts sir. Your speech is what encouraged me to stay."  He stood there staring at you for moments.

"Well I'm glad you stayed." He sent you a strong smile.

"Uh- me too sir. I hope I don't regret it" you chuckled nervously.

"You won't" he spoke rather quickly. "Goodnight Cadet, get some sleep" he ushered as he turned to leave the area.

"Goodnight" you ended it with as you watching him walk away before turning to walk your own way to the barracks. That was just the beginning of it all and you were petrified.
