Chapter 23. "Devils"

"Stay alert scouts! There could be titans nearby. Be aware of your surroundings!" Erwin ordered "keep your hoods on your heads!" He finished as he landed on the top of the wall. His eyes peered down to the run down buildings, half of which looked close to collapsing.

"Commander sir!" Armin called out trampling his way towards Erwin. You had just hoisted yourself with your gear landed only feet from Erwin. "They're here! Bertholdt and Reiner! There's a kicked out fire maybe 20 feet behind me. It's cold." Armin finished. Erwin looked down at you and then back towards Armin.

Eren and the others had headed to plug up the gaping hole in the wall so he was out of sight. Your eyes darted to the sudden shock of lighting in the distance.

"Good erens getting it done. Armin, Levi's team and hanges team are under your control. Do what you find necessary. Had they noticed our approach by sight or sound, they couldn't have had more than 2 minutes to react. A pot over a flame wouldn't have cooled that fast in that amount of time. They've had to have known we were coming for 5 minutes or more...." Erwin started to think.

"They must have had someone on a lookout so there's more than 3." You thought turning your gaze to watch Erwin's reaction.

"Yes exactly! Armin, if the enemy is hiding near the inner gate, find them." Erwin ordered, your eyes fell to a beyond nervous Armin who quickly saluted nodding his head.

"Commander sir, permission to assist Armin?" You asked quickly before he parted far from Armin and the group of scouts.

"Approved" Erwin nodded sending you a look of 'please be careful' before you sent him a reassuring smile.

You and Armin stayed within feet of each other as you both flew around the inner gate in hopes to see something along the walls. After what seemed to be 10-15 minutes of nothing, Armin grappled to the top of the wall letting himself hang against the side. He just so happened to have landed on a small hole in the wall. Where a large muscled wrapped closed eye replaced the hole. Armin gasped and your eyes caught sight nearly losing your grip on the trigger to shoot your ODM gear.

"Shit fuck" you panicked as you started to approach the ground.

"Y/N!" Armin called out as he shot off the flare for his discovery.

"I'm good!" You responded as you found the triggered but seconds before you splattered onto the ground and hoisted yourself onto the closest buildings roof. You raised your head looking up to see a scout appear near arm. Only seconds later to see a part of the wall open and sword penetrating the scout. Your eyes widened as Reiner appeared shooting a stare up towards the scouts on top of the wall! Within seconds, captain Levi came barreling towards Reiner stabbing him in the neck and torso as they plummeted towards the ground.

You gasped as you watched reiners body hit the ground near the structure you stood on and Levi retreating back to the top.

"Y/n LOOK OUT!" Armin called as his feared eyes fell onto the squirming Reiner before the bright strike of lighting hit where his was. Reiners eyes met yours only seconds before the flash erupted. You raised your arms shading your eyes from the blinding light as you were tossed back from the force tumbling off the roof slamming your back onto the ground beneath you. You yelped as you felt the pain shoot through your whole body.

As you laid on the ground, you heard the rumbles of reiners titan gather to its feet and the anxious cries of the scouts caught off guard. You slowly managed to sit yourself as you caught your breathe in your lungs.
