"You're fucking with me." You huffed dropping your shoulders in disbelief. Erwin's blue eyes scanned yours back and forth letting out a huff.

"No y/n." He exhaled. "I'm being serious."

"What did you do?"

"It's a long story, and I promise to tell you when you're back at base this evening." He smiled gently and placed his hand on your cheek rubbing his thumb in circles.

"What does that even mean?" You asked cocking your head.

"Erwin." A voice erupted from the chaos behind you both. Erwin turned behind him and was met with Darius Zachary. Zachary connected his gaze with you and nodded to acknowledge your presence before turning his attention back to Erwin. "Glad I caught you before you started home. A word?" He asked him.

Erwin turned to look at you waiting for your okay for him to part from you. You exhaled and sent him a small smile before nodding a goodbye to the both of them. You scooted passed them to make your way back towards your trio missing their fourth. Eventually finding them struggling to pull Sasha off a gentleman running a bread booth. You laughed as you walked up to the commotion.

"Jesus what is going on here?" You asked pushing the boys off of Sasha and pulling her back yourself. "What did he do sash?" You tried to reason with the hangry Sasha.

"He's cheating me out of the bread. This!" She held up a half baked loaf. "For the price of a full loaf?"she growled turning her attention back to the man who was out of breath.

"Im sorry ma'am but if you're not happy, then why did you pay for it!" He spat back helping himself off the ground.

"I'm hungry!" She barked. "It's bullshit. Your booth is bullshit."

"Okay okay okay." You grabbed her shoulder and rubbed it. "I'll but you're another half loaf so you'll have a full one, okay?" In which she nodded grumpily in response. You bought another half loaf and apologized to the man one more time before turning your back to face Connie and Jean who were absolutely baffled at the fact you handled hangry Sasha.

"Okay but what the fuck?" Connie asked raising a brow. "Are you Jesus or something?"

"You should know this by now Constance. You've been her best friend longer than I have. You always ease a feral Sasha with more food even if you have to buy her more." Jean looked at you and chuckled a smile.

"She's right baldy" Jean chimed in. "I say let's head back before we get charges drawn on us by another vendor." Jean suggested in which you all agreed and started your journey back. On the trek back towards base, in the carriage, Jean noticed you had fallen quiet. In the carriage sat Connie and Sasha on one side and you and Jean on the other. Sasha and Connie knocked out leaning against each other. Jean nudged your arm gently to get your attention.

"Hey you okay?" He asked in a low voice. You turned your head to face him and you exhaled unsure if you wanted to go into detail or not. You sent him a weak smile at his concern.

"I think so, honestly don't know myself." You chuckled breathily. Jean kept his stare onto you as if he were non verbally trying to get you to let him in on it, of course if you were comfortable.  "Jesus take a picture. It'll last longer." You joked as you leaned your head against his shoulder. "Commander Erwin was here today and I ran into him..."

"Oh what a coincidence." He jokingly scoffed.

"Oh shut it" you rolled your eyes. "He just told me some whack stuff I would have never expected from him."

"And that is....?"

"He told me he chose me." You said keeping it short. "Over being a commander." You choked that part out because you still couldn't believe it yourself. The scout regiment was everything to Erwin. And you still couldn't bring yourself to believe it.

"And how is that a bad thing?" Jean asked breaking the silence. You lifted your head off his shoulder and lowered your brows.

"How is it bad? The fact he is the first commander to actually make a difference in the scouts. And that fact that this is his life he's putting below me." You spoke low as your eyes glance to a stirring Sasha.

"Y/n." Jean spoke your name as he tilted his head to the side. "Why are you against the fact that he actually is head over heels for you?" You say there for a few minutes contemplating your answer. You parted your lips to start to speak before Jean spoke before you. "He's will to make huge sacrifices for you. And from what I've seen. He's not one to do something like that just for anyone."

"I guess I'm just overthinking it. He's gonna lose his position. And then what? Who's gonna step up? There's no one as qualified as he is. We're fucked." You responded.

"Guess we'll worry about that when it happens. Be happy" Jean smiled.  You all finally arrived back to base and the sun had just started to set. You were baffled at how fast the day went. It felt like you were only out and about for a few hours at the most. Guess time flies when your lost in your mind. Sasha and Connie sluggishly staggered to their rooms as you and Jean laughed at them quietly.

"Alright horse boy." You smirked and jeans faced dropped in annoyance.

"Ahh no not you too?" He pleaded

"No I'm just messing with you. But hey, save some food for your relatives." You laughed.

"I'm doomed." He huffed.

"No but seriously, thank you." You spoke suddenly serious. "For being there for me the past few months. You've kept me from turning feral like Sasha and I need ya to know I appreciate ya." You smiled.

"Anything for a damsel In distress." He smiled warmly.  "Goodnight smalls." He concluded as he approached his barracks door and entered leaving you in the hallway.

"Goodnight." You threw out before his door latched. Some distant voices could be heard from the hallway in front of you in which you turned your attention to it. The familiar cooing deep voice and the monotoned always angry voice. Erwin and captain Levi. It wasn't until they were in your view that their chatter died as if they they noticed you. You smiled at the both of them as they approached. Erwin stopped aside you and Levi continued on his route leaving a "tch" as he passed you.

"I was just coming to find you." Erwin smiled as he placed his hand on your lower back as the two of you made way to his office. Once you entered and he shut the door behind him, you spoke quickly.

"You can't drop your position for me." You blurted. "You can't, I'm not worth it. This is your life. Something you worked hard to get where you got today, you can't just-" you started to ramble but a pair of lips met yours silencing you. You felt his hand wrap around the back of your neck and the other pressed on your lower back. You fell deep into it but Erwin shortly parted after and you threw a small fit inside your mind.

"I went to see Zachary today. That's why I was at the street festival. Or at least in the area. I told him I wasn't going to terminate anything with you." He started  "of course, he was very displeased and told me to start my concluding. But then he pulled me away from you and told me, I'd be able to keep my position of commander. As he had no one to replace me. I assume." He finished bringing his hands to greet your cheeks. His eyes gentle as they scanned your facial features.

"So you get to keep your job?" You asked with a smile forming.

"Yes" he chuckled back. You exhaled softly placing your hands on top of his

"I want to set one thing straight Erwin." You started. "I will not be held from any more missions. None of that! I am a scout, this is what we signed up for. We knew the risks. But also, no dying on me okay? I'll resurrect your ass and kill you myself for leaving me in this shitty world without you."

"Deal." He smiled gently as he pulled you into another warm genuine kiss.

"Erwin.." you started to speak centimeters from his lips.

"I love you." Erwin whispered back to you
