After the commander parted from you and headed back into the mess hall, you eventually got yourself up and headed towards the stables to ready your horse for training. You tacked up your horse as the rest of the cadet corps fled in and towards their own horses. Your eyes lifted forward to scan the cadets and with only your luck, your eyes connected with Reiners. His look when he noticed you was cold. Though in his eyes you could see how hurt he was and it pained you. You wish you weren't so oblivious to something like this. He instantly broke your gaze and bolted to his horse. Bertholdt following behind him looked upset that Reiner was acting out as he was.
"Hey you doing okay?" A sudden calm voice erupted from the stall next to you. You snapped your head to be greeted with Armin.
"No not really but I'll manage" you huffed as you shrugged your shoulders. "Thank you for asking though. Means a lot" you smiled softly as you tightened the cinch securing the saddle. During the small conversation you had with Arlert , you felt Reiners glare burn into you and it just didn't sit right with you. You shook off his stare and opened your stall door leading your horse out maneuvering through the middle isle and heading outside to wait for the rest of the group.
You situated yourself before lifting your left foot into the stirrup before attempting to hoist yourself upon your horse. Doing so, something within the stables spooked your horse suddenly and just as you were parting from the ground, he bolted and you fell backwards onto your ass.
"Mother fucker" you groaned as you watched your horse circle the stables. Your eyes scanned around you to see if anyone saw and with your luck, your eyes fell onto Hange, Miche, Levi and Erwin who were all on horse back staring at you on the ground. You exhaled sharply as you shook your head before a sudden hand reached out for you. Reiner, who was also holding the Reins of your horse who was breathing heavily from the small run he had lapped.
You hesitated extremely as you glanced at reiners facial expression and then back at his hand. You took another deep breathe before bringing your right hand to grasp his ad he hoisted you to your feet.
"You alright?" He spoke somewhat coldly as he brought his other hand up to you with the reins and releasing your hand pulling his own away.
"Fine, thank you" you responded quickly as you took back the reins. "For being a bomb proof horse, sometimes it's hard to believe considering you pull stunts like this on a daily." You huffed as you rubbed the bridge of your horses nose. Reiner stood there for a few seconds before he turned and pondered off back to Bertholdt holding his horse in the doorway of the stables.
"It just never ends with you does it?" Sasha chuckled as she rode up next to you.
"Tell me about it" you mumbled as you pulled yourself onto the saddle.
"So tell me...." Sasha started. You groaned knowing what she was gonna continue with. "Are you screwing Commander Erwin? Is he good? Actually ew. No don't tell me. But do tell me. Ew." Sasha started to ramble.
"Oh come in YN, it's so obvious the way you look at the Commander you got the hots for" Connie chimed in hearing the start of the conversation.
"Connie shut it." You spat rolling your eyes
"So I'm right, bingo" Connie smirked.
"Oh my god would you two shut it. No. I'm not sleeping with the Commander. Sure I admire him but it's never gonna happen so please stop." You huffed as you lowered your head slightly. They both stayed silent unsure of how to respond.
"Alright brats, get your shit together and let's go!" Captain Levi barked as the rest of the cadets pondered out chatting away aimlessly.
"Sorry guys, I didn't mean to snap. Just going through some shit right now..." you spoke gently
"It's okay YN we understand" Sasha comforted you as you three started to direct your horses behind the leaders.
Today's training came and went by hard and slow. So much had been thrown at the cadets, it had everyone absolutely exhausted. Lunch was even skipped because of the intensity of the training. Sasha might had well been feral at this point but you knew how this girl was when she didn't get her food on schedule. As everyone approached he stables to put away their horses, the commanders voice blurred out to the cadets.
"Cadet Reiner, take YN's horse and out him away for her." He demanded. "I have some paperwork I need her to go through quickly before dinner." He added as if he were trying to cover his ass. You lowered your brows confused as he hopped of his horse handing it to Miche and turning to wait for you to do the same. Your eyes shot to look at Reiner whose state at you was deadly. It was all masked with hurt again.
"I'm sorry-" you turned to say to Reiner after you dismounted.
"It's fine." He shot back snatching the reins from you and heading into the stables. You slowly approached the Commander who sent you a small smile before the two of you began walking back to the building to enter his office. The walk was silent. There were no exchange of words at the fact neither of you knew what to say.
Once you both reached his office, he opened the door for you letting you enter first before following in behind you. He closed the door slowly and evidently locked it but you never heard the click as you were too focused on what you were going to say . You walked a few more steps forward towards his desk before turning around and parting your lips to speak.
"Sir, what pape-" and before you could even try to continue your question, the Commander had approached you placing his hand at the back of your head and pulled you in placing his soft warm lips against yours catching you wildly off guard. Your eyes widened but quickly closed once your brain register what was going on. You were in disbelief. After all this talk about shutting whatever feelings you had for each other down, Erwin kissed you. He. Kissed you....
