It seemed like an endless ride once you were outside the gate into the world. The most you've been outside the walls was right along the border with the commander. It was so.... Green. Everyone had picked up a chatter amongst each other but you, you were so caught up in the scenery. Though, from time to time you found yourself bringing your gaze to fall onto the commander's figure in front.
His tall broad body with his gorgeously slick back golden hair. His astonishing sky blue eyes, his sharp jawline and his thick eyebrows. Everyone was one to make fun of them but you liked them. You caught yourself in a trance staring at him and before you could pull yourself out of it, he caught you and halted back to walk his horse along side yours.
"Cadet" he spoke out causing you to come back from zoning out.
"Oh hello sir" you responded, glancing at him quickly.
"Was there something on me that you'd care to tell me about? Considering you were staring at me for some time now" the commander spoke as he pretended try and look at his back. Your face instantly reddened and you lowered your head.
"I- uh. No sir." You managed to let out keeping your breathe steady.
"Then care to explain?" He asked tilting his head slightly, a smirk threatening to peer up on his lips.
"I-" before you could even try and come up with a answer, section commander Miche grabbed the commanders attention.
"Commander sir. We have a dozen abnormal stragglers ahead." Miche yelled out. From the front of the line. Commander's eyes shot up from his gaze on you to scan the area around the group.
"Commander what are your orders?" Hange called out.
"Stay in the route to the forest, keep them away from the wagons!" He yelled out before looking at you.
"You stay within the group, do not go in the outer edges or stray from this group. Do I make myself clear?" He asked sternly as his eyes showed you a genuine worry.
"Yes bu-" you began to respond but his overpowering voice interrupted immediately.
"That's an order" he snapped before encouraging his horse into the right direction towards the small group of abnormals.
"Commander!" You called out but he was too far gone. Feeling your heart begin to race, you lifted your reins in attempts to go after him but suddenly a hand came down smacking yours from rising and queuing your horse. You jolted your head to see who had done so, Reiner.
"What the fuck?!" You yelled out, pulling your hand away from Reiner's grasp.
"Don't be an idiot and go after him. He's replaceable." Reiner spoke.
"We are all replaceable but he's the only commander. They aren't as replaceable as we are" You spat. "Why aren't you with your squad?"
"I was sent to give word on the female Abnormal's location"
"What female abnormal titan?" You asked, furrowing your brows seeing Reiner's face somewhat drop.
"There's been a report of a female abnormal, who seems to be looking for something. She's slaughtering scouts left and right." Jean appeared to the right of you. A sudden aggressive thumping shook the earth below you. Your eyes widen, snapping your head back behind you to see her. She was stomping heavily towards your group, in a determined manner.
"Is that the one?!" You called out seeing all the horses were set into a gallop.
"Yeah, an intelligent one, so heard" Jean called back to you.
"I'm headed towards the left outer squad, they were sending up red flares." Reiner called, looking at you and then Jean before taking off. Your head scanned the surroundings in hopes to see the commander riding back to join the group but you were greeted with nothing.
"PICK UP SPEED CADETS" Miche yelled back to you and Jean whose horses were falling behind. You snapped your head forward and back to reality, kicking your horses side to encourage him to go faster. In a short distance, the first group of titans began to surround the frontal squad and before you knew it, the sight of the female titan was covered by the green.
"Cadets on horse back, break away from your horses up into the trees. I want the wagons to continue course until further instruction" Miche ordered as he shot his ODM gear lifting himself off his horse and into the trees.
"Im going to join back my squad, stay safe y/n" Jean called out, breaking away and yankinghis horse forcing it to turn around to take off. Before you could say the same for him, he bolt off. You exhaled sharply, shooting your ODM gear to the upcoming tree , departing from your horse up into the trees. You slammed into a big branch and you grunted on impact.
"Cadet get yourself together!" Miche called out, landing on the neighboring tree. You gathered yourself to your feet while caught your breath. You placed your hands on your knees leaning over.
"Yes sir" you huffed leaning against the tree.
After what seemed like forever waiting in the trees, a faint sound of hoof beats echoed the quiet forest. You stood up from against the tree, peering down at the ground seeing if you could see anything.
"READY THE CANNONS!" That familiar voice echoed the huge forest. Your eyes darted to see a messed up commander on horse back bolting through the ground below you. Your eyes lit up slightly absolutely relieved he was alive. Then your eyes jolted to the horseback scouts behind him. The levi squad with Eren guarded in the middle.
"Commander!" You suddenly screamed out. His eyes scanned the tree tops in search of where your voice came from. A smile formed on his lips, catching sight of you but the smile instantly fell with his eyes widening.
"Y/N WATCH OUT" you had no time to process his words before you finding the source of their panic, the branch beneath you had been swept away sending you fast down towards the ground. Your eyes fell up to see the female titan had appeared off track and started swatting the scouts form the branches. You just so happen to be the next branch she went after. Her cold blue eyes fell onto you dropping quickly to the ground. They looked so oddly familiar.
She was the last thing you had seen before everything went black.
