It didn't take me long to arrive in Sawle and ride into the harbour nodding my head to the local folk who went about their day but gave me a small greeting. I dismounted and grabbed the sack of potatoes  I had loaded. I saw Ruth and Lottie two of the little local girls who came running over to me.

"Hello." I beamed  crouching down "Here you go. I brough patatos and..."

"Mistress Abigail!" I turned hearing Rosina as she came running over but she tripped and fell

"Rosina!" I ran over and helped her to sit up "Is it your knee" She nodded clutching it

"Come on lets get you inside." I helped her up and noble into her home. I sat her down on the bed and carefully lifted her knee up. Jacka followed behind me.

"What happened?" he asked

"Tis like it belonged to before Dr Enys mend it. Only now it's worse" she stated wincing in agony.

"We should send for him." I recommended

"Aye, I'll set Charlie on it." Jacka agreed.

"Nay, he be sick. Remember? Dr Enys bid him keep to his bed." she denied and I stood up

"I'll go. You keep her warm and still. I'll be back shortly." I take my leave and mount my horse racing towards Dr Enys' cottage. I jumped off on my arrival and knocked. Thankfully hen was here and answered

"Abigail? What can I do for you?" he wondered

"Rosina Hoblyn, fell and locked her knee again. Can you tend upon her?" I asked and he shook his head

"I'm afraid I cannot. My plans have changed. I'm due to leave with Caroline." he informed me. I was confused

"Tonight? But I thought..." he cut me off

"It was tomorrow, yes, but her uncle..." he trailed off. I nodded in some sort of understanding.

"It's alright, you go. I'll see to Rosina and send for Dr Choke. I have the means to pay him." I stepped away

"Yes...No wait." I stopped "Er...I cannot allow that. She's my patient." he went back inside to gather his things

"But Caroline's expecting you."

"I think if I leave now, there'll be time." he came back out and we rode back to Sawle. I pushed the door open and we stepped in.

"Tell me what happened." Dwight insisted

"I turned it on the cobbles, sir, and it sudden go all tight." she explained gripping onto her knee.

"We thought to send Charlie for 'ee, but since he be sick, Mistress Poldark did kindly go." Jack continued as  Dwight examined Rosina's knee.

"What's wrong with Charlie?" Dwight asked and I tilted my head in confusion

"You did ought to know that. Tis on account of 'ee telling him to stay abed that he's not helping with the run tonight." Jack answered as Dwight helped Rosina knee much to her pain and discomfort.

"There now." Rosina breathed out a couple of even breaths with a happy smile

"What did 'ee do?" she wondered

"Can you stand?" he asks. Rosining does with with a small laugh

"It is all mended?" I ask with a little shock that it was so easy to do.

"Oh, sir, I'm that grateful. T'was afeared 'twas gone for good." Rosina thanked him with doe eyes evident.

"I think you should wear a bandage. at least till the tendons knit together and if it ever happens again.." Jack interrupted

"Why sir, if it do, we'll just make her sit quiet till we call for 'ee again. You'll take a dram." Jack offered as Dwight returned to his feet

"no, I...Thank you, that's most kind. Now what's this about Charlie?" he asks "Did he tell you I said he must go to bed?"

"Not I, but them as wanted his help with the run." Jack handed him a cup

"I don't understand?"

"Trencrom's ship is coming in tonight. They sent round to tell him to be ready. But he said he's fever and the surgeon said he must stay abed, on account of his lungs." Jack recounted and something felt off about the tale.

"I said no such thing." Dwight denied

"Why would he tell such a tall tale?" My voice wavered in concern. Dwight glanced at me then back at Rosinia

"Your wedding's in a fortnight?" he questioned her.

"Aye."

"He's be anxious about the risk and about his health. It's a thing any man would do. I must leave you now." Dwight handed the cup back

"Till 'ee come again."  Jack offered his hand and Dwight took it. I glance away

"It's been my privilege to be able to help you all."  i gave a small smile and we left. I could tell something was a miss then it hit me as we looked upon his house.

"The informer, could it be Charlie?" I wondered "You must keep to your plans. I will deal with this." I insist

"I can go to Charlie and still get to Killewarren." he insisted

"What will you do?" I sighed

"In the first place. Confirm our suspicions. We may be mistaken." he planned. I folded my arms in discontent

"But the drops tonight. What if there's an ambush. I'll come with you."

"No you must not. If your seen out and about and the ambush is set. Go home and I to Charlie." he stated

"Then ride like the wind to Caroline." he made his way over to Charlies house and I reluctantly went home
