"Are you okay?" James asked me.

I looked at him. Masyado bang halatang 'di ako komportable?

"Do you want to go to my office for a while?" he asked me again.

"Can I?" balik-tanong ko dito.

"Yeah, of course. This way." He led me to the elevator.

We were at ThinkSoft. He was giving me a tour around the company.

I could feel everyone's eyes following us as we went inside the elevator.

"This way," ani James noong nakababa na kami ng elevator.

He opened a door that led to an office.

"Come on in," he opened the door wider for me. "This is my office. And that," he pointed to another door inside his office. "Leads to Louie's office. But he's not here right now. He's meeting a client."

I could feel like I can finally breathe, being away from everyone's scrutinizing gaze.

"Do you wanna wait there instead?" I heard James ask again.

"No, I'm good here," sabi ko.

"Then please sit down," anito.

Agad naman akong sumunod dito. I occupied one of the huge couches.

"You want anything? Coffee? Tea? Juice?" anito.

"I'm fine with tea. Thank you," sabi ko.

Nawala ito sa paningin ko, he went inside what looked like a pantry.

"Are you okay?" anito habang nagsasalin ng tea sa dalawang tasa.

"I'm fine," sabi ko. "Nao-overwhelm lang siguro ako sa information. I don't have any background on IT."

It was comforting.

He sat down right in front of me. "Is it Louie's idea that you work here?"

"Yes and no," sabi ko. "It was my idea to start working. I got so bored. So I told him that I wanted to work. Outside. Not here on ThinkSoft."

Nagpatangu-tango lang ito habang sumisimsim ng tea.

"But he insisted that I work here," I continued." Kaso 'yon nga, parang wala naman akong mai-ambag dito sa ThinkSoft. I am a pre-med student. I have no background on IT. Baka kapag nagtrabaho ako dito, maging taga-photcopy lang ako ng papers o kaya'y taga-timpla ng kape." I chuckled.

Muli ay hindi sumagot si James. Nakatitig lang ito sa akin. It was as if he was assessing my words.

"Don't get me wrong. I don't really mind kahit taga-timpla lang ako ng kape," sabi ko. "Pero parang nakakahiya naman yata kay Louie. I mean, I don't want your employees here to look down on him just because he married a very incompetent wife. Did you see how people around here looked at me? They must've heared the rumor that I will be working here. Wala pa nga, para na akong jina-judge mula ulo hanggang paa. Pati yata kaluluwa ko na-judge na." I chuckled.

"I don't think Louie would mind," anito.

"Ha?"

"He wouldn't really care what other people would think."

"But still... Well, I guess, you're right," I said as I heaved a deep sigh. "Maybe I was just overthinking."

Which is surprising. As long as wala akong ginagawang masama at wala akong natatapakang tao.
