Hannah's POV

Malory and I began to walk home, but we got a strange feeling that someone was following us. We looked behind us about 100 times but no one was there. I kept thinking about what the old man said, 'now go before they hear you'.

Before who hears me, I thought.

Anyway, it was getting dark. I had to get home for dinner. Malory was lucky enough to live on this side of the neighbor hood, so she already went home, but I lived across town. If I wanted to get home fast enough, then I would have to walk through the woods.

I entered the woods, alone. It was creepy, I didn't know where I was going at first, but then I saw some trees that looked familiar. I kept walking, when suddenly I heard a noise. I looked around but nothing was there. I just kept walking. Then I heard it again. "Who's there?" I yelled, but nothing responded. I started to walk faster, but the faster I walked the louder the noise got. I started to run, but then I tripped over a log and cut my ankle wide open. Ouch, it really hurt.

I sat there on the ground for a second, the noise had stopped. It started to get foggy out. I looked around to see if anyone was there, then I saw something in the distance.

It was a boy, and he had curly hair. I couldn't see his face but I could see the outline of his body through the fog. "Hello?" I asked him, but he didn't respond. He turned around and started to walk the other way. "Wait! Who are you?" He just kept walking. I got up and began to follow him. I took my cell phone out to try and call my mom but I had no signal. I just kept following the boy, but the more I walked the thicker the fog got. I thought about it, why was I following him? I don't even know him! But then again he seemed to know the way out of here. All I could see was his back, and his curly hair, I think it was brown.

Then I came to a stop, the fog cleared up and I couldn't see the boy anymore. I looked to see where I was, and I was by the fountain at the park. The boy must have guided me out of the woods. I couldn't help but think this was a trap, but I just kept walking until I finally got home.

I walked through my door. "Mom?" I yelled. I heard my mom in the kitchen, she was crying. "Mom what's wrong?" She looked at me and told me to sit down. "Jessica's mom called" she said, "they found her body behind a dumpster on 12 mile." My eyes got big. "No, she's not dead, I know she's not," I told her while in shock. She nodded her head slowly and cried. "Yeah, she is" she said. I couldn't help but cry too. How could she be dead? I asked my mom if they knew how she died, and she said that she was bitten by something. "Bitten by something? Like a wild animal?" I asked my mom.

"They couldn't tell what it was" she said to me. Wonder what it could be. I ran upstairs to my room, bandaged up my ankle, and called Malory. Of course she already knew, she was crying over the phone. I knew I wasn't going to get a good night sleep knowing my friend is dead.

*the next morning*

I got to school early. I was still in shock about Jessica's death, but I couldn't stay home and cry about it. I had to try to take my mind off things as much as possible, so that I could get through it. Malory met me up there. She was trying to stay strong too. As soon as the bell rang the principle made an announcement about an assembly we will be having. He said we had to check in to our first hour class then go straight for the auditorium.

Malory and I walked down to the auditorium together. We took our seats and watched as people piled in the room. As soon as everyone took their seat in the auditorium, the principle began the assembly. "As you know, one of your former students past away last night..." Great, just what I need, an assembly about Jessica. I zoned out as the principle kept talking. And she didn't pass away last night, he just tried to make it sound better then the truth. I started flipping through some pictures on my phone to buy time, then Malory bumped my arm. "Hannah, there's a guy staring at you." I looked at her like she was crazy.

"What? Where?" I asked her. She told me he was sitting a few rows behind us. I turned around, and sure enough a boy was staring at me. He had light brown hair, and blue eyes. He smirked at me. I politely smiled back, and then turned to Malory. "Do you know him?" I asked her. She told me she hasn't seen him before in her life. I looked back at him again, and his eyes were still planted on me. I turned around to look at Malory again. "He's creeping me out" I told her. She ignored me and started texting someone.

I don't know if I should look back at him, or just keep looking forward, so instead I looked at Malory. Then the assembly was over. We all stood up, and the boy was one of the first out of the auditorium. I left Malory and walked out of the auditorium after him. I saw him walk up to another boy in the hallway and start to talk to him. The other boy had brown curly hair and green eyes. He looked a lot like the boy I saw in the woods. The curly haired boy looked at me, smirked, then walked away with the boy I saw in the auditorium. Did they want something? They both smirked at me. I followed them down the hallway, but then I lost them in the crowd of people...
