"I... think so..." George muttered, scratching his brain for his parents' number that he had probably forgotten because he never needed it. He had it already saved on his phone but his phone was lost during the flood.

"Here. Dial their number then." Clay said, handing George his phone that had the 'Phone' app open.

"Uhh... I may have forgotten. The last time I needed their number was years ago. Let me dial what I remember." George said, typing in some numbers. He called a number which turned out to be the wrong one.

After a few wrong numbers, he called another number. He decided to just give up if this wasn't his mother. He held the phone up to his ear but no one picked up on the other side.

That was strange... or maybe it's just some busy person. George decided to try again, this time putting the phone on speaker so Clay was listening as well.

"Hello?" A woman said from the other end, sounding very obviously tired.

"M-Mum?" George said, his voice uneven and cracking in the middle upon hearing his mother's exhausted voice. A dry chuckle was heard from the other end.

"It's probably a wrong number, kiddo. The one who called me that is gone now." She said, her voice lacking emotion. George felt his eyes get watery.

"I-It's me, George..." George muttered, his voice being more clear this time.

"George?" The same emotionless voice said. "Good joke."

"Mum! It's really me. I'm here mum, your George is still here!" George said, breaking down into tears. "I'm not dead, mum."

"G-George?!" Her voice got a little higher, filled with what sounded like hope.

"Yes mum!" George said with a smile though tears never stopped running down his face.

"George where are you honey? How have you been? Why didn't you call sooner?!" His mum bombarded him with questions.

"Mum calm down! I'm doing okay. I'm still in Florida. Someone saw me in the flood and took me in. He's really nice, he treats me really well. He helped me when I was in depression because... uh, Kyle... he's not with us anymore... You probably know that already though. If it weren't for this guy, I don't know if I'd really have been here right now." George said, glancing over at Clay who was looking away with red cheeks.

"I thought I would never be able to hear this voice anymore. You don't know how happy I am to know that you're still here." She said. She was definitely crying as you could hear her sniffles on this end of the call.

"Mum you have to keep it a secret from the media for now, alright? I'm not ready for that yet. You know how those people can be." George said.

"Got it. I wouldn't say a word. Uh, George your father is here! I'll be back in a second." George's mum said and you could hear distant talking that was too far to make out words.

"Oh my god..." George muttered, a smile on his face. Clay hugged him and ran his fingers through his hair as the two waited patiently for George's mother to return with his father.

"Nora you have gone insane. I don't know who you're talking to on the phone but that isn't George. Our son is dead! Don't you understand? He isn't coming back." George's dad said as his parents got closer to the phone.

"I'm telling you Will! It is George! Come with me, I'll ask him to speak to you." George's mum said as her voice got progressively louder meaning they were getting closer to the phone.

"George? Are you still there?" She asked.

"Yeah mum, I am." George replied, waiting for his dad to get on the phone.

"Hello?" His dad said, sounding unsure and a little mad.

"Dad, I'm not dead. I'm still here!" George said.

"Are you actually George?" His father asked.

"Yeah, do you need proof? We can FaceTime if you want?" George offered. He was a little upset that his dad refused to believe it was him on the phone.

"Sure. Let's see who you really are." He said before they switched the call into a FaceTime. George looked at himself and saw tear-stained cheeks and eyes red from crying.

"Look, it's me!" George said with a smile. His dad looked shocked and soon bursted into tears, handing the phone to George's mother. "Mum." George said.

"Have you been crying George?" His mother asked, and you could hear his dad sniffling in the background.

"I just got a little too excited upon talking to you." George said, giggling a little. His father soon stood next to his mother, not talking but just watching his son who he thought was dead.

"I think I should go now. I'll talk to you again if I could. This is not my number, by the way. It's Clay's, the guy who saved me from the flood." George said. "And remember, don't tell the media any of this. Let them think I'm dead."

"We won't. And say thank you to Clay on our behalf for saving you." George's mum said with a smile.

"I will. Bye mum, bye dad." George said, ending the call and giving the phone back to Clay. "Thank you so much." George said to Clay, hugging him tightly.

"You don't have to thank me." Clay said, hugging George back.

"Its not 'cause my mum told me to, its because you let me speak to my parents, so thank you." George said.

"You don't need to thank me for anything, George." Clay muttered, cupping George's face and wiping at his cheeks to get rid of the tears that stained them. Their faces were so close if one of them moved forward their noses would be touching.

"Clay?" George muttered, voice low because of the close proximity. Clay hummed, looking into George's eyes with a smile.

"I have something I want to tell you..." George muttered, resting his small hand over Clay's where it rested on his cheek.
