"I swear, I'm really okay!" No matter how many times I tried to assure Cyprus, he just wouldn't listen. He put his arm over my back and gently held me by the arm, guiding me to the nearest park bench.

His worried eyes carefully scanned the left side of my head, and afterward the left. He even gently brushed away the dirt on my hair and cheek.

Seeing him again made my heart well up in joy, but watching him panic and worry over me stirred up the feelings I tried to bury for so long.

All I could do was stare at his face, silently praying that all of this isn't just some dream that I'll wake up from.

"Joe?" His soulful brown eyes suddenly met mine.

"Are you real?" I whispered to myself, still staring at his eyes.

His lips moved, but I really didn't hear what he said. I was too lost in his eyes again. However, because he was smiling, I couldn't help but smile back.

It's Cyprus. It has always been Cyprus. And maybe, it will always be Cyprus—the only man I will ever carry a torch for.

"Oh my God, you're bleeding!" I dipped my head down and quickly reached for his shoulder. "Cyprus, you're bleeding!"

He didn't respond, so I looked at his face again, and that was when I realized that he was looking at me, eyes full of unreadable emotions, lips slightly parted. That was also when I realized how close our faces are to each other.

"It's nothing," aniya. "It doesn't hurt."

Ngumuso ako at umiling. "You're hurt! Let's get that treated!"
