"Yeah, Kuya. Everything's set. I spent the entire night packing my things. Good thing the condo owns all of the furniture kaya gamit ko lang talaga ang dadalhin ko. Bale, isa-isa ko lang na ilalabas ang mga gamit ko para 'wag akong mapansin ng employees. Today's the manager's day off, but I really can't trust the other employees here. Mom and Dad can't find out I'm moving today," paliwanag ko kay Kuya habang ang mga kamay ko ay abala sa pag-e-empake ng mga natitira kong damit.
"Parang kahapon mo lang napagdesisyunang umalis ah?" aniya mula sa kabilang linya. "Okay ba talaga ang lilipatan mong apartment?"
I sighed and smiled. "I trust Argentina, Kuya. Kababata niya ang owner ng unit na rerentahan ko tapos may mga kakilala rin daw siya sa building. All I have to do is move my things and live there."
Bigla na lamang tumawa si Kuya. "Mukha pa lang no'n hindi katiwa-tiwala. Good luck na lang sa 'yo!"
"Kuya naman!" pabiro kong reklamo.
"Nga pala, nasabi ko na ba sa 'yong sinagot na ako ni Piper?"
I froze on the spot. My brother sounded so happy, but for some reason, something seemed wrong. I guess I'm just unsettled at the fact that my brother is dating the girl that Kuya Apollo has always been in love with, and as far as i know, Piper felt the exact same way, which is why she kept rejecting my brother for so long.
Does Piper really like my brother? Or did she experience the same thing I went through with Sawyer, only she wasn't able to fight the pressure?
As much as I love my brother, I know he can be devious. And he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty just to get what he wants.
He may be a good brother to me, but he hasn't been really a good lover to anyone. Will Piper really be his game changer?
"Joe? Andiyan ka pa ba?" he asked.
"Y-Yeah. . ." Mariin akong pumikit at pilit na lamang ngumiti. "I'm happy that you're happy. Just please don't break her heart, okay?"
"Nagda-drama ka na naman." Humalakhak si Kuya mula sa kabilang linya at pagkatapos no'n ay tuluyan na niya akong binabaan.
As much as I want to share advice to my brother—he just won't listen to me. He never even tells me anything personal. And whenever I ask him something personal, he just walks away or acts rude toward me. I don't know if it's because he prides himself as the older brother and that I'm just his younger sister, or maybe he just doesn't like talking about his feelings. At ako naman, para 'wag na kaming mag-away, naghihintay na lang kung may sasabihin ba siya sa akin. Minsan tuloy pakiramdam ko hindi ko na alam kung ano ba talaga ang nangyayari sa buhay niya.
Huminga na lamang ako nang malalim at ibinaba ang cell phone sa kama ko. "It's okay, Joey. They're grown adults. They can handle their own problems. Focus on solving yours first."
