"Mer, wake up. We're at the hospital" Derek kissed her forehead as he opened the car door

"-M awake" She sighed

"I'm gonna lift you in the wheelchair" Derek announced and carefully lifted her into the chair

"I feel so old" Meredith sighed

"I'm sorry honey. Is this okay?" Derek asked to make sure she was comfortable

"Yeah, it's okay" She nodded and started shivering once more

Derek quickly grabbed the blanket and covered her with it to make sure she would stay warm

"Is it good like this?" He asked

"Don't worry" She nodded and closed her eyes

"You can rest in a bit" He kissed her lips and started pushing her towards the entry. The couple made their way over to oncology and got installed in one of the private rooms which Bailey had fixed for her during her whole treatment

Derek lifted her onto the bed and covered her in several blankets before a nurse came over to take her vitals and do a blood test before they'd start another round of chemo

"Mom packed us several things in case we'd be bored" Derek rubbed her upper arm

"Lay with me?" Meredith asked half asleep

"Of course" Derek smiled and laid down next to her, his arm resting protectively around her waist as her head was resting on his chest

"Hmm" Meredith moaned

"The girls are probably asking mom and dad for a thousand things" Derek chuckled

"Yeah" Meredith giggled softly, internally wishing they could join them

"Do you remember when we took Ava to the playground when you were pregnant with Emma and she told everyone you were making her a baby?" Derek remembered

"Oh Aves" Meredith chuckled weakly

"Sleep. You need it" Derek kissed her forehead

...

"Derek, how's she doing?" Bailey asked as she entered the hospital room

"She's asleep. She was so cold and so exhausted" He sighed "Bailey, I need to talk to you about some things" He already started tearing up

"Of course, go ahead" Bailey took a seat next to him

"She- Her tremble.. it's really bad and it's not going away" He started "She can barely walk, she can barely make it to the bathroom on her own"

"I noticed the tremble during Emma's birthday" Bailey sighed and placed her hand on Derek's shoulder "Maybe we should think about a wheelchair and a catheter"

Derek pointed at the wheelchair in the corner of the room "Amy took care of that already" He nodded "I thought she would fight me on it but I think she can't deny that she needs it"

"D-Der?" Meredith whispered

"Hi Mer. How are you feeling?" Derek immediately stood up and checked on her

"S-Stomach" She shakily said

"Meredith, do you want something for the pain and nausea?" Bailey asked

"Yeah.." Meredith weakly said "Call the girls first"

"Let's call them after. They're having fun. I'm sure of it" Derek kissed Meredith's head. He just wanted her to get some meds as he hated to see her in pain

"Kay" Meredith sighed and leaned into Derek's touch as Bailey injected the meds and she fell asleep again

"She's completely worn out" Bailey frowned

"We've had a couple of rough days. First Em's birthday, yesterday at the restaurant it was very noisy.. She's exhausted and doesn't want to let it slow her down even more" Derek brushed his fingers over Meredith's cheek and jaw

"Do you think it's best if we admit her for a few days so she can fully rest?" Bailey suggested

"I don't think that's the best for her. We have our family around at home. She hates to be seperated from them" Derek said

"I already expected that, yeah" Bailey nodded but her pager started beeping "I have to go, goodluck"

"Thanks" Derek nodded and watched her run away

He tucked in Meredith a bit more and checked her vitals to make sure she was doing okay when Mark walked inside

"How's she doing?" Mark asked and repeated Derek's previous actions

"She's exhausted.. but okay, I guess" he sighed

Mark kissed Meredith's forehead and eventually took a seat next to Derek

"Will you need some help tonight? Addie and I have been talking about it and we can take the girls for the night" Mark suggested "Or we can stay with you and help you out a bit"

"I don't think both Mer and the girls wanna get separated even more" Derek buried his head in his hands

"Talk to Mer, if she's okay with it Addie and I can stay to help out" Mark suggested

"I will. Amy's coming over tonight really quick as well to say goodbye" Derek told Mark

"Right, I almost forgot" Mark nodded

"And mom and dad have to drop off the girls"

"Sounds like a busy day" Mark put his hand on Derek's shoulder

...

"Shh Mer, shh" Derek held her in his arms as she cried out in pain

"Derek-" She whimpered

Derek pressed the nurse button again, he had pushed it before but he had gotten no response and was getting impatient"

"Doctor Grey?" A very young nurse walked inside

"Finally! Get her something strong for the pain, now!" Derek ordered

"I have to ask a doctor-"

"I am a doctor!" Derek scoffed

"Awwww" Meredith whaled in pain

"What's going on?" Addison frowned as she entered the room

"Can you go get her something for the pain?" Derek asked as tears escaped his eyes

"Of course" Addison ran away

"Addie will be back in a bit. It's gonna be okay" Derek held a crying Meredith in his arms

"Okay Meredith, this will help" Addison ran in and administered the meds

"D-Der" Meredith breathed as the meds slowly started taking their effect

"Don't fight it, just close your eyes" Derek kissed Meredith's forehead

"Love" Meredith muttered before she fell asleep

"Love you too, Mer" Derek laid her down carefully with the help of Addison

"Is it okay if I stay for a bit? I can grab us some coffee" Addison suggested

"Of course Addie, thanks" Derek smiled

"I'll be back in a bit" She smiled and softly rubbed his back

Derek sat down next to Meredith and kept a close eye on how she was doing, scared she'd slip. He loves her so much and can't deal with it to see the love of his life in so much pain
