"Mom-" Meredith weakly cried out "I want Der"

"I know honey. He'll be back soon. Very soon" Carolyn held Meredith in her arms

"It hurts" Meredith forced out

"I know honey" Carolyn teared up. She was lost for words as she kept holding onto Meredith

"Girls.. tell me.. 'bout them" Meredith winced

"Oh dear. They have been so good" Carolyn started as Meredith kept whimpering in her arms "We've been to the zoo and I can't really tell you but they have something for you" Carolyn softly explained as her fingers were brushing over Meredith's cheek

"G-Good" Meredith nodded sternly as she tried to ignore the burning pain throughout her whole body as if she was standing in flames

"Try to sleep a bit. I'm staying here" Carolyn promised

"Kay" Meredith breathed

Meredith woke up hours later. It was dark outside and she could hear Carolyn in the hallway walking up and down with laundry

When Meredith looked at the time, she felt guilty. It was past 8pm which meant the girls were in bed but she didn't give them a night night. She weakly pushed herself up to a sitting position before pushing herself onto her feet

She felt dizzy and weak, aif her muscles were gone

Despite the horrible feeling she decided to shuffle towards the girls' rooms. She walked through her own bedroom door and almost reached Ava's bedroom when she felt dizzy

Meredith kept focussing on finding her balance but blackness overtook her. She could only hear Carolyn yell for her

"Meredith!" Carolyn saw Meredith and was fast enough to run towards the younger woman and catch her on time

"What's going on?" Mark yelled from downstairs

"Mark, come help me. Please" Carolyn said as she guided Meredith onto the floor as she was unconscious

"What happened?!" Mark gasped as he ran upstairs

"She got out of bed. I guess she wanted to check on the girls" Carolyn told Mark

"Always stubborn" Mark sighed "I'll pick her up and carry her to the bed"

"What the hell is wrong?" Addison frowned as she saw them standing in the hallway

"Mer was stubborn. Again." Mark shook his head and lifted her up

"I'll stay with her" Addison quickly said

Mark and Addison placed her in bed and tucked her in once more as Carolyn was making sure Meredith's head would stay warm

"We're downstairs if you need us" Carolyn squeezed Addison's hand softly before leaving the room. Addison turned towards Meredith and didn't keep her eyes off of her until she woke up a while later

"T-The girls" She muttered

"They're okay. You're in bed, you collapsed" Addison softly rubbed Meredith's upper arm

"Wanna see them. They need their night night" Meredith weakly argued

"I'll ask Mark if he can help" Addison sighed and grabbed her phone to text him

A few minutes later Mark entered the room

"Markie, I need to see my girls" Meredith whispered, her voice breaking

"Mer-" Mark sighed

"They need their night night" Meredith tried once more

"But I'm carrying you, so no saying no." Mark said sternly

"Thanks" She nodded softly and wanted to push herself up

"Stay there, I don't want Derek to kill me when he's back" Mark chuckled and lifted her up bridal style

"I can walk" She whined

"Yeah, that I saw earlier" He joked

"Ass" Meredith rolled her eyes

"You love me" Mark teased

"The girls" She whispered, her energy already drained

Mark walked into Ava's room. He helped Meredith lower herself to kiss the dark haired girl's forehead. Meredith lifted her right wrist that was still shaking and tucked Ava in "Night night pumpkin" Meredith whispered "She's snoring so loud" Meredith frowned which made Mark chuckle and he then helped her to Emma's room where she did the same "Night night munchkin"

"Night mommy" They heard Emma whisper

"Bed now" Mark lifted her up and brought her back to the bed "Now it's time for you to rest. Addie and I are sleeping in here. Mom and dad are staying in the guest room" Mark softly told her as he stroked his thumb over her hand

"Yeah" Meredith breathed and immediately fell asleep

...

"Okay, Em has that field trip tomorrow, I packed her bag already" Addison told Carolyn

"Thanks honey" Carolyn smiled at Addison

"Addie, are you almost ready?" Mark walked in

"Almost" She smiled, barely able to hide the exhaustion she felt

"Go, I'll clean up here. You and Markie had a long day" Carolyn smiled sadly

"Thanks mom" Mark hugged his mother goodnight

"Night mom" Addison did the same and walked away with Mark.

They went to check on the kids before they entered Meredith's room

"Oh-" Addison gasped. She hated it to see her best friend like this

"It's okay" Mark wrapped his arm around her waist

"I'll never get used to this" Addison sighed as she checked if Meredith had a fever

"Is she okay?" Mark asked

"Yeah. She's okay" Addison softly smiled and climbed underneath the blanket

Mark tucked in his sister one more time before he joined Addison in the bed and held her in his arms as they watched Meredith, making sure she would be okay until they finally fell asleep

Somewhere that night Meredith had woken up. She felt the urgent need to use the bathroom and weakly looked at Addison and Mark who were asleep next to her

She didn't wanna wake them up so instead she weakly removed the blankets and got up. She used the wall to support herself. She couldn't quite remember if it was the dizziness taking over or rather just because it was dark but she fell. She felt and laid down on her stomach, accidentally pulling some stuff with her

Addison and Mark quickly woke up and heard Meredith whimper at the foot end of the bed

"Mer?" Addison kneeled down next to her as Mark turned on the lights

"Okay. 'M okay. Just... Need to pee" She quietly forced out

"Okay, I'll lift you" Mark said and lifted her over to the toilet where he waited outside as Addison was helping Meredith

When they knocked on the door Mark carried her back to the bed and one again tucked her in

"How's your stomach feeling?" Addison softly rubbed Meredith's upper arm

"Better" Meredith sighed "Much better"

"Wake me if it gets worse" Addison said

"Night night Mer" Mark kissed her forehead and climbed in the bed with Addison
