A few months later they were getting ready to go to the hospital for Meredith's check up

"Hey, are you almost ready?" Derek asked as he walked into their bathroom

"Almost" Meredith quietly nodded as she grabbed her scarf

"You know you don't need that, you look beautiful" Derek took the scarf out of her hands

"Thanks" Meredith leaned into his body and closed her eyes for a second

"Wear your beanie outside if you're cold?" Derek quietly suggested as his strong arms were wrapped around his wife's small body

"Yeah" She breathed

"Is your stomach feeling okay?" He asked her softly as he rubbed her back

"I only had my tube feeding so it's not that bad" Meredith nodded "Are the girls ready?"

"Em's ready but I wanted to go check on her again. I'm glad we agreed on letting her talk to someone" Derek breathed

Emma had shown a lot of signs that she had a tough time with all the things that had happened while Meredith was sick and the girls showed to have issues with anxiety so they had decided to make sure the girl had someone she could open up to. Even Ava tried it but she could easily talk to her parents instead of a shrink

...

Derek helped Meredith get out of the car, they had dropped off the girls at their parents' house and were now walking inside the hospital. Many people looked at them and gave her a supporting smile as a lot of staff really missed Meredith

They all knew her as Dr Grey who was very passionate about her work and patients, someone who treated the nurses and other doctors with respect

They slowly made their way over to get the scans they'd need

A while later Meredith, Derek and her team of doctors were collecting in Bailey's office as they had checked all the scans

"Can someone just tell me?" Meredith's voice was shaking but she couldn't stand the silence. She closed her eyes and was waiting for someone to break the awful silence

"We didn't find any cancerous cells, Meredith" Bailey smiled and even teared up slightly

"Really?" Meredith opened her eyes

"Really. You're still in remission" Bailey smiled

"Oh" Meredith gasped and felt Derek's arms wrap around her body

"We'll give you a minute but then we need to discuss some practical things" Bailey smiled and walked out of the office followed by the other doctors "Derek" She looked at her husband, her expression blank

"This is- Wow" He breathed and held her close against his chest

"I hadn't expected that" Meredith started laughing as stress finally left her body "Oh my god"

"It's amazing" Derek's smile was huge

...

Derek was driving towards his parents' house while Meredith had fallen asleep in her seat. PT had made her much stronger, she could walk again, could stay up almost the whole day but sometimes, like today, she needed a nap to get through the day

He had parked his car on his parents' porch and saw Mark's car. Derek knew everyone would be waiting for them as they all hoped for the best outcome with Meredith's results

"Derek!" Mark ran outside "How did it go?"

"She's cancer free" Derek smiled "Can you help me get her stuff? She's due for another feeding but I wanna carry her inside, she's exhausted" Derek asked his brother who obviously agreed

"Oh Derek! How did it go?" Carolyn gasped as they walked inside

"Wait a minute" He softly said, placed Meredith down on the couch and woke her up "Mer, we're at mom and dad's"

"Oh" She yawned and immediately saw everyone looking at her and she started giggling as she thought about the good news they had

"It was okay?" Addison guessed

"Cancer free" Meredith kept giggling

"Oh, honey!" Carolyn wrapped her arms around Meredith and couldn't hold herself from crying, all the other adults following

"Mommy, daddy!" They heard Emma and Ava scream

"Hi guys!" Meredith and Derek smiled

"How did it go?" Ava asked

"Everything was perfect" Meredith breathed and hugged them both tight to her chest

...

"Mommy?" Meredith was asleep in her bed but heard one of her daughters' voices

"Em?" Meredith called out

"Can I sleep with you?" The girl shakily asked

"Of course. Did you bring your stuffy?" Meredith asked

"I did" Emma nodded and walked towards her mother's side of the bed

Derek had his arms wrapped around Meredith's body as they were spooning so Emma climbed in and felt her mother's hand wrap around her body

"Were you scared?" Meredith quietly asked, not wanting to wake up Derek but she also wanted her daughter to feel safe and to let her know she could talk if something was up

"Yeah" The little girl nodded her head "I had a bad dream"

"Do you wanna talk about the bad dream?" Meredith asked as she brushed her fingers through Emma's long, blonde and soft hair

"It was about you going to the doctor" She quietly admitted

"But honey, I promise you everythingns okay for now" Meredith assured her daughter

"I know" Emma whispered and buried her head in her mother's chest "Can we sleep?"

"Of course, baby. I love you" Meredith kissed Emma's head and waited until the little girl was asleep and then closed her eyes, drifting off pretty easy
