Meredith was asleep in the car, Derek was sitting next to her as he was driving the car. Addison and Mark were sitting in the back with Emma. They were on their way to see Ava's dance performance

"She's so happy she has those glitters in her hair" Addison giggled

"She's very excited!" Mark chuckled

Derek drove all the way to Ava and Emma's school. Once he parked the car he woke up Meredith while Mark was grabbing Meredith's wheelchair

"Wanna walk" She muttered as Derek lifted her

"Save your energy. We want you to enjoy" Derek kissed her forehead

"Here, so you stay warm" Mark covered her with a blanket

Emma crawled on top of her mother and wrapped her arms around her

"Hi sweetie. Are you excited to see Ava?" Meredith asked as she rubbed Emma's back

"She will do very good!" Emma smiled

"She will! Once the performance is done we'll have to cheer!" Meredith chuckled as Derek started pushing her inside the building

Once they walked inside Derek carried her so she could sit down next to him, Emma on his own lap

Addison and Mark took a seat next to Meredith and started whispering

"Is there something we can't know?" Meredith teased

"I hate that your energy us up again" Mark laughed

"Be nice" Christopher said

"Mom, dad" Meredith smiled as they arrived

"Hi honey" Christopher smiled and kissed the top of Meredith's head and took a seat next to Derek

"How was the drive up here?" Carolyn asked as she sat down as well

"It went pretty smooth" Derek smiled until the lights slowly turned off

"Can you see enough?" Derek asked as he handed her her glasses

"I can't wait" She smiled aa the first girls came up and started dancing

"Ava!" Emma whispered as she spotted her sister

"She's beautiful" Meredith gasped

"She is" Derek agreed and held Meredith's hand tightly in his own

Halfway through the show Meredith started having issues breathing, just because she was so exhausted

"Mer, let's go home" Derek whispered

"Hmm" She groaned as she was half asleep in her seat

"Addie, Mom and dad will bring the girls" Derek said as he scooped her up in his arms while Mark grabbed their stuff and followed them outside to the car

He opened the door and helped Derek to get Meredith in as comfortable as possible and they gave her some extra oxygen as the wheezing was getting slightly worse

"Close your eyes and sleep a bit" Derek kissed her forehead and got in the car himself

Mark climbed in in the back and Derek drive them home

"She was very good" Meredith muttered from underneath the oxygen mask

"She was. Now sleep" Derek grabbed her hand and held it in his own

"I'm supposed to be the bossy one" She chuckled but felt breathless afterwards

"Mer" Derek sighed as he drove onto the ferry

"Wanna go out" She whimpered

"Okay" Derek gave in and got out. He scooped her up in his arms and let Mark make sure she was fully covered

Derek was sitting on a bench with Meredith on his lap. He only went out because it was such a warm day. Her head was resting on his chest, listening to his heartbeat while he was stroking her upper arm. Mark stood a bit away from the two, giving them some well deserved privacy

"I enjoyed it" Meredith quietly said

"She was so beautiful. Our little flower" Derek chuckled

"I think she really enjoys dancing. Em wants too" Meredith said and buried her head a bit deeper into his chest

"Emma was so proud of her big sister" Derek smiled

"They are the best. We won the lottery with our kids" Meredith smiled, feeling proud of her girls

"That we did" Derek agreed

...

A few hours later the girls arrived with Carolyn, Christopher and Addison

On their way home they had stopped for some ice cream, to treat both girls and now they were absolutely exhausted and curled into Meredith's arms as she was receiving her feeding

"What's up girls" Mark threw himself on the couch

"Uncle Mark, you're silly" Both girls laughed

"I'm silly?" He pretended to be hurt

"You are" Meredith nodded, her cannula for oxygen was still draped around her head

"Mer?" Derek walked inside, "Bailey called. She said she wanted to come over. She said she has the results of the girls their gene tests" Derek frowned

"Derek- I meant to tell you-" Meredith said but he ignored it and walked away

"What's that about?" Mark frowned

"I asked Bailey to test the girls on their genes. I wanted to be prepared if something would happen-" Meredith whispered

"But he didn't know?" Mark guessed

"I wanted to tell him. I just- I forgot and-" Meredith's breathing got worse

"I'll go talk to him. I want you to stay here and breathe" Mark kissed her forehead and walked after Derek

"Is everything okay mommy?" Emma asked softly

"Yeah" Meredith nodded as a tear escaped her eye "I should have talked to daddy but it will all be okay" She sighed
