"Meredith, hi" Bailey smiled as she walked into the room

"Bailey" Meredith smiled

"How are you feeling?" Bailey took a seat on the edge of the bed

"I'm okay" Meredith forced a smile "But-"

"What?" Bailey frowned

"I want you to run genetic tests on the girls" Meredith said sternly

"Meredith-" Bailey tried to stop her

"I don't want them to get alzheimers or cancer for over three times. We need to prepare as much as we can" Meredith's voice shook

"Okay" Bailey sighed

...

"Mommy!" The girls yelled as they ran into the hospital room

"Hi!" Meredith smiled and opened her arms

"Hi. I missed you" Derek kissed Meredith's lips

"Did you finally get some rest?" Meredith asked him

"Yeah, although these two wanted to lay with me" He tickled Emma and Ava

It was as if the family had found new energy to keep going after the good news they had received earlier

"Yes!" Ava chuckled

"Come here munchkins" Meredith smiled and cuddled her daughters close

"Can we go for a walk, please?" Emma asked

"Derek?" Meredith looked up at her husband

"I think we can" He smiled "Lets help mommy into warm clothes" He said and dressed her in several warm layers

"Here mommy" Emma handed her the soft pink beanie

"Thanks lovely" Meredith grabbed it with her shaking hands and replaced the scarf for the warm hat

"Beautiful!" Emma smiled and kissed her mother's cheek

"I'll lift you" Derek announced and lifted her into the wheelchair and covered her with a blanket to keep her warm

Emma climbed on her mother's lap while Ava grabbed Meredith's hand

Derek pushed her out of the hospital to the park behind the building. They walked for a bit until they arrived at the playground

"Can we?" Ava smiled at her parents

"Of course, just be careful" Derek helped Emma off her mother's lap and carried Meredith as he sat down and placed her on his lap, cuddling her close to his body to keep her warm

"They look so happy" Meredith mumbled as her head was resting on Derek's chest

"They are. They're happy you're doing better" He kissed her head

"I want some more energy back" She sighed

"Soon. Don't forget you're still in the middle of treatments" Derek reminded her

"I just wanna play with my kids, sit on the couch with you and not fall asleep right away and just enjoy being with you" She whined

"We just want you to get better, the rest will come later" Derek kissed her head and noticed her eyes started drooping, her body was drooping "Nap. The girls are enjoying and I enjoy having you in my arms"

"Are you sure?" She weakly asked

"Very sure" Derek kissed her forehead and watched as her body relaxed in his arms. He adjusted the blanket a bit to make sure she would stay warm. He watched as the girls were having fun on the playground. Ava was pushing Emma as she was swinging before the two girls started playing in the sand

"Mommy look!" Emma ran up to her parents "I made you a wristband out of flowers" She giggled and tightened it around her mother's wrist

"Thank you sweetie" Meredith smiled but shivered a bit

"Let's bring mommy back inside. We can cuddle some more, maybe watch a movie" Derek suggested and helped her in the wheelchair before wheeling her inside and helping her back in the bed

"Let's watch Frozen!" Emma yelled

"Both of them!" Ava added

"Lay down with mommy, I'll start the movie" Derek smiled and gave them a bag

"Popcorn!" Emma smiled as she opened the bag

"Yay!" Ava jumped up

"Oh-" Meredith started gagging as she smelt the popcorn

"Mer!" Derek rushed to her but she didn't actually throw up

Hours later they had brought some toast for Meredith to try and eat

"Mer, you need to try" Derek said as he helped her sit more upright

"Not hungry" She groaned as she clutched her stomach

"You need to try. We need to train your stomach" Derek tried once more

Meredith sighed and tried to take a bite as she felt her stomach turn

"Put it away" Meredith whispered as she was getting sick

"Mer-" Derek sighed

"Just- please. I can't" Meredith whimpered

"Mommy, do you want a piece of my food?" Emma asked, referring to her sandwich

"No sweetie. I'm okay" Meredith's body started to hurt

"Okay" Emma whispered and continued eating

"Derek.. I wanna rest" She weakly said, the pain was overtaking

"Mer, you need to eat something-" He protested again

"I can't!" She weakly snapped and clutched her stomach as pain ripped through her whole body

"I'm sorry-" Derek walked towards her. The two girls carefully but quietly watching their mom

Derek helped Meredith to lay down as he felt bad for pushing her but he also knew that otherwise she wouldn't try at all

"Do you want something for the pain?" He asked as he rubbed her arm

"Yeah" Meredith forced out as she squeezed her eyes shut

"I paged Bailey" He said and kept holding onto her hand

"Mommy, are you 'kay?" Emma asked concerned

"Yeah" Meredith was breathing loud as she tried to ignore the pain but it only got worse

"You paged? Bailey walked in

"She's in pain" Derek quickly said

"Did you try to eat a bit?" Bailey asked when she returned with the meds

"I can't" Meredith whispered and saw Bailey frowning

"She got sick by smelling popcorn earlier and now she's complaining about pain in her stomach" Derek explained

"Oh sweetie.. But we need to get you to eat. Your weight is drastically low.." Bailey sighed

"I know!" Meredith snapped weakly before she quietly started crying

"Mommy!" Emma got upset and climbed in the bed with her mother while Bailey injected the meds into Meredith's port

"Shh" Meredith whispered as Emma rested her head on her chest "It's okay sweetie"

"Derek, we really have to try and get her weight up if she wants to be released anytime soon.." Bailey sighed

"I know" Derek whispered
