***Four Years Later***

I walked through the market looking around and smiling. Four years. Four years since I've step foot in Encanto. It's still pretty much the same.

But it being the same also came with a lot of the same hurt. I could still hear the rumors and whispers. I chose to ignore them. It is Spring, and I am not letting my mood be ruined by idiots. I walked around, bought some flowers. Being gone from Encanto for four years, gives me the gift of not being recognized.

I walked to the graveyard and set the flowers on their graves befoer hearing, "Mi Vida?! Oh Veronica!"

It was mama. She runs over and hugs me tightly before putting her hands on my cheeks nad saying, "oh, I've missed you, we've missed you! Where have you been?! Tell me all about it!"

I blushed and giggle, "mama, stop it! I;m ok... I missed you too..."

She smiles at me before saying, "I'm serious mi vida. We've missed you... it's been so strange not being able to interact with you again..."

"I know mama... but it was so freeing. Being away from Encanto, actually being able to turn off my gift. No spirits keeping me awake, no pains... oh mama I' feel like I;c been everywhere, like i; e traveled the world..."

Mama watched me fondly before giving me a curious look. I look at her and say, "what?"

"You have aske done thing about Eliana..." mama replies

And with that my good mood came to a crashing halt. While I had been gone I had been able to smoother my guilt about abandoning Eliana behind me. I could destruct myself. But now, my daughter was a startling reality again.

Mama put her hands on my cheeks, and wipes wha ti assumed was tears from my cheeks as she said, "awe, Veronica, don't cry. I didn;t mean to make you cry..."

I sighs dn bakc]]kc up wiping my eyes, "I made my choice mama. And now I feel comfortable that Eliana is safe, and cared for..."

Mama looks at me with that, I;m not an idiot look enfeor saying, "you think about her don;t you, mi vida?"

I nodded hesitantly so I said, "she's a lot like Antonio. She's wild and curious, but she looks like you. Her gift ceremony is coming up soon. And I believe that's what's brought you back to Encanto am I right?"

I blushed and said, "probably..."

About two months ago I got this sudden and overwhelming wave of homesickness that crashed into me. A drive to come home that I couldn't really explain. Now that I hear mama say if out loud it makes perfect sense.

Mama shook her head before glancing over at a couple of nearby flowers. She walks over, scooping up a butterfly before whispering something to it and letting it go. It flew off towards the Madrigal Casita.

After that she turns to me and says, "som now tell me about your trip!"

I did the spell the make me invisible beofer mama and I sat down on the grass and I talked about everywhere I went.

However I was interrupted by the sound of little footsteps. I looked up and saw a little girl, I somehow immediately knew of be Eliana sit on a nearby bench. Her eyes were filled with fear and concern, but her face held confusion and longing. She was lost, and scared.

She pulled her knees up to her cheeks,t hugging them as she began to cry. I blushed and looked at my mama. She pushed me to my feet and urged me over to the bench, so I stood I front of Eliana. I was hesitant, nervous that if she recognized me that she might tell Antonio. But the risk was less then cheering up Eliana. So aI made myself visible and said softly, "hello? Are you lost?"

Eliana looks up at me. Glancing me over several time. No gaze of recognition fell over her face so I bent down to er level and smiled at ehr saying, "oh I recognize you... your Eliana Madrigal, aren't you?"'

She nodded so I added, "well there's not need to fret... your familia is always very good at finding their own. How did you get lost?"

She tilts her head and says quietly, "I was chasing a butterfly..."

I nodded and suddenly looked over to see my mom setting a churro in my bag. I fought the urge to laugh at her instead grabbing it and offering it to Eliana. Eliana, being a four almost five year old, was not about to turn down sweets; she took it f me and started eating it. I looked at the flowers I'd bought, I plucked a Marigold fo=lower out of it and I began braiding her hair, typing the flower into the braid as I went. Right when I finished with the braid, I heard Antonio voice, calling for Eliana, so I sigh sadly, planting a gentle kiss on the back of Eliana' ahead. One I knew she wouldn't feel before saying, "I believe I hear your familia nearby... so I have to go now... but I hope you have a good day Eliana... and happy early birthday..."

I waited for her to get distracted before before making myself invisible again. Eliana looked back in surprise and wonder before Antonio came into view. My heart felt like it was swelling and it began to race. He was just as handsome if not more handsome then when I left him. Just four years seemed to rough him up abit... I chuckled at my thought. He[s also a father now. I'm sure that doesn't help.

He had concerned and fear in his face, relief washed over his face before worry returned. He scooped Eliana up and spoke her her softly. I blushed when Eliana started to describe 'the woman sitting on the bench with her', a look of recognition fell over Antonio;s face and he just kissed the top of Eliana's head, holding her close before muttering the soft words, that will always remain close to my heart,

Thank you Atlas.
