After spending the next 10 minutes of the FaceTime call convincing your brother that you weren't bothered by the whole Jake being his best man thing (which was a total lie) and that you were more concerned about him, Ronnie, and making their day special (which was absolutely 100% true) you guys said your "see you soons" and got off the phone.

It honestly felt like God was laughing at you at this point.

First your hear them on the radio in your car when you get to work this morning, then you're told they're going to be a part of the charity concert at your work, and now you get told you're going to have to get up close and personal (kind of?) with Jake in your brothers wedding.

All of this.
In ONE DAY.
I mean you knew you weren't exactly a saint but did you really need to be punished that bad??

You glanced down at your phone, 6:08 pm.
You had talked to them on the phone for two hours which definitely wasn't uncommon.
Especially when you had a lot to talk about like today.

You got up off the couch to stretch your legs and found yourself walking down the hallway into Calum's studio.
You looked around the room, your eyes scanning the guitars and music posters on the wall until you landed on the portable piano against the window.
You walked over and sat down running your fingers across the keys.
It had been a while since you had played, much less written anything.
Mainly because you never had the time, but it was something you had always loved to do.

Your dad was a musician, and a great one at that.
He could play the guitar, banjo, drums, piano, harmonica, you name it he could probably play it, but his main focus had always been the guitar.
He was in a band with Jakes dad Kelly back in Michigan before he got sick.
They played gigs here and there for fun and you could always tell it brought him so much joy.
He was the reason you had such a love for music. Everything you knew about music, came from him.

Writing had even come naturally to you.
Especially after you and Jake had broken up.
You dabbled here and there for fun while the two of you were together, but nothing more than a few pages in your notebook.

But one night that stood out to you specifically when it came to writing music was the night Calum first heard you play the piano.

It was also the night of your first kiss.

April 11th, 2018

It had been right at 6 months since you had met Calum.
The two of you weren't dating but you might as well have been because any free chance you got, you spent hanging out with him.
He had become one of your closest friends.

Besides Ivy of course.

Tonight in particular you had joined Calum in the studio with the rest of the band as they wrote, recorded, and worked on their newest album that was coming out in a few short months.
They were in the final stages of finishing up but they were still missing something and couldn't figure out what it was.
You had only been there with them for a few hours but you absolutely loved watching them work.
It was incredible to watch their writing and creating process as a band but you could tell that they were exhausted.
They had been working non stop, around the clock to try to get this album perfect for release and you definitely admired that, but you could tell it was also taking a toll on them.

Michael and Ashton had just started to bicker about what the single for the album should be so you took that as your cue to step out of the room.
You were honored that they were even letting you be a part of this experience with them but you also wanted to give them their privacy as well.
