When you left the restaurant Ivy asked if you would mind to drive her car to the studio so she could reply to a business email to which you happily agreed.

As you were driving you started thinking...it was your 25th birthday.
You wanted to do something adventurous. Something fun.
Something you normally wouldn't do spur of the moment.

"Hey Iv?"
"Hmm?"
You looked over at her in the passenger's seat typing away at her phone.
"You feeling adventurous today...?"
She slowed her fingers and put her phone down in her lap to look over at you with a brow raised and a mischievous grin dancing on her lips.
"Always. What did you have in mind?"
You sighed, "I mean I don't really know....but it's my birthday and I want to do somethi-"

And that's when you saw it, almost as if by fate, the glowing neon sign in the shop window that read "TATTOOS & PIERCINGS"

You swiftly pulled the car off to the side of the road and into the closest open spot, scaring the shit out Ivy in the process.
"Jesus Christ Fare are you trying to kill us???"
You rolled your eyes at your friend as you put the car in park and shut off the ignition.
"Quit being so dramatic I looked before I pulled off."
"Yeah I don't think you did. Where even are we?"
You simply grinned and jutted your head to the building behind her.
Once she saw where you were she turned around and grinned back at you.
"Oh hell yeah! What are you thinking???"

You didn't have any tattoos but getting one (or some..) had always been on your bucket list. To you, tattoos were one of the most beautiful ways to express yourself through art and you absolutely loved them.
Calum had tried for a long time to convince you to get one with him when he had an appointment but you always chickened out or never felt like it was the right time.
Well, today was the day.
And you knew exactly what you were going to get.

"You know I've always wanted a tattoo."
"Yeah you've talked about it forever." Ivy nodded waiting for you to continue.
"I've never told you this, but since I moved to LA I've wanted to get a specific tattoo...but I just always pushed it off or made an excuse not to..."
"Okay..." Ivy raised an eyebrow, clearly nervous as to where your story was going.
"And as you know, after Jake broke up with me I moved out here for a fresh start..."
You picked your phone up out of the cup holder and started scrolling back into your pictures, you had had it saved there for as long as you could remember just waiting for the day you finally made the decision to get it.
"AHHH just show me already!" Ivy said fidgeting in her seat.
You clicked on the photo and leaned over the console to show her.

It was a beautiful fine line lotus flower.
Nothing bold and loud, it was perfectly you.

"The lotus flower symbolizes strength, and "rebirth"....much like what I had to go through when I moved here. Losing all of my friends and having to start completely over was one of the hardest things I've ever done. But I learned how to manage and found a strength in myself I never knew I had. That strength helped me get to a normal place again. Well that and of course my family, you and your friendship, Calum and the guys." You said with a smile finally looking up to meet her eyes.
