Hey friends, surprise update! This part is kind of bland, well to me atleast. It's more like a filler chapter. I just suck at knowing when to cut my chapters off...they're either too long or too short 🥴
BUT the next chapter is finally when you find out what happened between Farren, Jake....and Sam 😉
It'll most likely be a double update so just bare with me through this one!
I hope you enjoy it nonetheless!💗

*Also side note, we all know Sam hates anything "pop" related but for the sake of my story he's going to like 5 Seconds of Summer lol 😂*

You, Calum, and Sam had been done with dinner for over an hour and were now just sitting at the table talking.
Calum and Sam had quickly bonded over "bass talk" and music, you throwing in commentary when you could.
You didn't mind not talking as much because honestly you were just enjoying sitting there watching the two of them get along so well.
You could only hope it would go this well when Calum met Josh and Danny.

"Yeah so now we're trying to finish up album number 5 but we've run into some hiccups and creative differences within the group, as I know you're probably familiar with."

Sam laughed, "Oh absolutely. Considering three out of the four of us are brothers there aren't many times when we DON'T have creative differences...Well, just differences in general. I hit Jake over the head with a ukulele one time because of an argument we had.", he finished, shaking his head.

Your eyes widened, "Wait, what?? No you didn't!"

Sam laughed again, "Sadly, I did. And what's worse is I can't even remember what we were arguing about in the first place. Danny is definitely the more civil one of the four of us, he ended up having to separate Jake and I so we wouldn't kill each other."

You and Calum both started laughing at the thought,
"Yeah I can definitely see that. Poor Danny is going to be driven to insanity having to deal with you three!"

Sam playfully rolled his eyes at you before continuing, "No, but in all seriousness, I do get it. We worked on Battle at Gardens Gate for a long time before we were finally ready to release it. We actually ended up adding Caravel and The Barbarians kind of last minute and now I couldn't think of the album without them on it.", he shrugged.

Calum nodded, "And that's usually how it goes. If you finish a song and feel it needs to be on the album, and fits the vibes you're trying to go for, you could be adding a song or songs up in to the final days of production. The Battle at Gardens Gate is phenomenal by the way. It's my favorite album that you guys have put out thus far. Age of Machine is a masterpiece."

Sam's eyes widened slightly, just enough for you to notice, "Wow, thanks man. That means a lot coming from you."

Calum nodded again, "Of course. You guys are extremely talented. I absolutely love your sound."
After a moment he sighed, "I just don't know what's going on with us, it's like we've hit a brick wall and can't seem to get past it."

You grabbed and squeezed his hand, "It'll get there babe. You know everything works out the way it's supposed to."
He nodded squeezing your hand back, "I know, it's just frustrating. Luke and Michael were at each other's throats more than once today for the littlest things. If it keeps on like this you're going to have to come back to the studio with me to either play mediator or write more songs for us so they won't argue.", he laughed.

You stiffened slightly at the last sentence, but he didn't notice.

You just hoped Sam wasn't paying too much attention.

Sadly he was.

"Hold on, did you say write MORE songs? As in she has written songs for you?" He was looking back and forth between the two of you with his eyes wide.
