"Fare!"
You grinned, "Hi Matty."

You were currently sitting outside on the sectional with a cup of coffee in hand, Duke nestled into your side.
You had just gotten off the phone with your mom after having an hour long catch up conversation and you honestly probably would've talked longer if her phone hadn't died.
You hadn't talked to your mom or Matt much since the wedding and that was super unusual for you.
And since you didn't have a chance to FaceTime them on your birthday you knew you wanted to do it first thing this morning.

"So where's my amazing sister in law??"

"Yeah nice to see you too sis. She's not here, she's at work." He finished with an eye roll.

You frowned, "Ah man. I guess I'll try again later then. Bye." You moved the phone away from your face to act like you were hanging up.

"Yeah yeah very funny." You heard him say.

You grinned and lifted the phone back up so you could see him, his eyes already rolling back into his head.

"Thank you thank you, I'll be here all week." You added with a wink, "Soooo I have to know, how's married life treating you?"

A smile instantly lit up his face.

"It's absolutely amazing Fare. It's like a nonstop sleepover with your best friend. Ronnie is amazing, I truly couldn't imagine doing this with anyone else."

You mirrored your brothers smile. Seeing him so happy and in love made your heart swell.

"I'm so glad you are so happy Matty."

You could see the faint blush on his cheeks through the screen.

"Thanks Fare. What about you? How's life been?"

You nodded, "Its been good. I've actually seen Sam, Danny, Josh, and, uh Jake a lot these past few weeks."

He raised an eyebrow, "Oh?"

"Yeah so they are recording their next album here apparently. They're commuting back and forth from Nashville when they can and then working with them for the charity show I've had to see them a few times so it's.. it's been nice."

"I bet."

You furrowed your brows, why was he being so short?

"So how was your birthday?"

You shook it off and nodded, "It was good. I got a tattoo!"

Matt's eyes widened, "NO WAY. Let me see!"

You pointed the camera down on your wrist so he could see your tattoo up close.

"Woah that's awesome. I love it."

You turned the phone back around to your face with a smile, "Thanks."

"What did mom say when you showed her??"

You couldn't lie, you had been pretty nervous to show your mom your tattoo this morning. Even with her being 3,000 miles away because she was your mom and you would always want her approval.

"She absolutely loved it."

"No way??"

You nodded, "Yep. She didn't even flinch. I think she loved it because she knows it has so much meaning to me."
