August 4th 2021

It had been almost a month since you and Jake had your "blowup" at your birthday party.

As soon as Ivy had made sure you were "okay" and left your bedroom to go clean up the house you immediately ran a steaming hot bath and stayed in it until the water turned cold trying to calm yourself down.

And although your mind was on absolute overdrive at everything that had transpired over the past few weeks, you were really starting to become numb to it all.

You hadn't spoken to any of the Kiszkas since that day....you really hadn't spoken to much of anyone other than Ivy, Calum and the guys.

Jayde had called you a few days later to check in on you and make sure you were okay. Which was super sweet considering the two of you had only just met.
You knew she was going to be a great friend.

Danny also had texted you every once in a while to check on you.

You knew Josh and Sam were giving you your space.

Jake on the other hand, you didn't care if you spoke to again.

You were starting to realize that what Matt had said was true.
Letting Jake back into your life, even as little as it had been so far, was a huge mistake.
If bringing him back into your life was going to make you feel like this on a regular basis then you didn't want it.

Speaking of Matt, you also hadn't talked to him either.

He had tried to call you a handful of times and text you but you hadn't replied.
Not because you didn't want to.
But because you really weren't in the mood to hear an I told you so from him.

Your mom had also called you about a week later after after she found out what happened between you and Jake.
Apparently she had heard it from Karen, because Sam had called and told her being the mommas boy that he is.

She had threatened to fly to California but you insisted that she not, only finally convincing her not to by saying she was already coming in a few weeks for Ivy and Ashton's wedding and you would see her then.

But you understood why she was so worried about you.

She was scared you would spiral back into that darkness you had once been in after you and Jake had broken up.
The trauma you had worked through resurfacing every so slightly.
Because for some reason that you couldn't figure out, he still had somewhat of a hold on you.

But you assured her that he wasn't worth anymore of your time than what he had already managed to take.

Which was true.

Calum had tried so hard not to hover over you these past few weeks....tried being the key word.
He had had decided to stay home from Ashton's bachelor trip to Vegas but you didn't let him.
He FaceTimed you everyday...sometimes more than once while he was gone.
If you were by yourself for a short period of time in the house he would come and find you to make sure you were okay.
And you couldn't even be upset because you know that he, like your mom, was afraid you were slipping back into that dark place.
He had tried to talk to you about it (a lot) but didn't push you when you didn't want to talk which you appreciated.

You had tried your best to just move on and forget about it.
Go back to work.
Hangout with your friends.

But it was kind of hard when everyone was treating you like a fragile paper doll.....again.

You were currently sitting on your couch at home replying to an email with Duke snuggled into your side as he always was.
You had decided to work from home for the next two days, one because you wanted to, and two because you wanted to pack and get ready for Ivy's bachelorette trip to Nashville.
