Sunny looked at his daughter, A set of flashcards in his hand. "Okay Sunbite, can you say doggy?" Riley looked back at him, gray eyes staring into blue. "Doggy!" She repeated, clapping. Sunny giggled, ruffling Riley's hair. "Now can you try saying yellow?" Sunny questioned.
Riley looked at him, staring. This was the toughest word yet for the little girl. "Yeyow?"
She did it. Oh my god, she did it. Sunny's little one said his favorite color. He picked her up, tossing the child into the air. "You did it, sunshine! Daddy's super duper proud of you!" He said, and gave his little one a hug.
That night Sunny told his wife, who smiled. " it wasn't a perfect pronunciation, but she's getting there. Her speech is getting better and I couldn't be any prouder!" He said, and Night hugged him. "That's all thanks to you, Sunny Bunny. You always want to teach Riley a new word!"
Speaking of Riley, the baby monitor on the nightstand went off, causing Night to jump up. "Speaking of our little moon.." and she stepped out.
Minutes later she returned, a crying toddler on her hip. "She had a bad dream again, didn't you baby?" Night cooed, but Riley just hid her face into her mother's shirt. Sunny looked solemn, before holding out his arms. "Give her to me." Night handed him the child, who cradled her as if she were a baby again. "Don't cry, my sweet sunlight. All the bad dreams are gone now, nothing can hurt you. " he whispered, and Riley just continued to cry. "Would you like to stay with mommy and daddy tonight? We'll keep you safe from those nasty, no good nightmares!"
Riley nodded in between sniffles, signifying a yesNow Night and Sunny lay close to each other, their darling little moon sleeping on top of them
