Dances In The Wild

Cyrus stood in front of the mirror, smiling. The tux he wore was deep purple with a black star printed bow tie. His black combat boots tapped against the floor, and he couldn't have been more pleased. The homecoming dance was tonight, and he was ready to blow everyone away. He was upset that his brother couldn't make it, as Hunter had gotten sick and was hacking up phlegm in his room. Cyrus brushed his hair and ran out the door, not even bothering to say goodbye. Hopping in his car, he drove to Gravesfield High School, ready for one hell of a night.

Edric sat in that gym, his grey suit jacket neatly ironed, the yellow shirt underneath providing a pop of color. Tying the outfit together though, was an orange bow tie, a gift from his boyfriend. The moment Cyrus entered those doors, Ed was both lovestruck and staring in awe.

"Wow, uh. You look great." Edric sounded awkward, mentally cursing at himself.
"You look amazing yourself, Blight." Cyrus responded, clearly more confident.
Edric blushed at that, taking Cyrus' hand. The two walked to the middle of the gym, Cyrus running up to the DJ. Cyrus let go of Edric, whispering into the DJ's ear. "Hey man. Can you play this?"
The DJ nodded, and 'Mary on a Cross' by Ghost began to play.
"May I have this dance, Edric?" Cyrus held out his hand, a soft smile playing on his lips.

"Of course, Cyrus." Edric's response was immediate, no hesitation even present in his voice.
Edric had his hands on Cyrus' waist, while Cyrus had his arms snaked around Edric's neck. As the two danced softly to the beat, Edric stared at Cyrus.
"How did a guy like me end up with you? I'm awkward, clumsy, and a fuck up. You're a basketball player, kind, and have an infectious laughter."
Cyrus chuckled, leaning in closer.
"Your beauty never really scared me, Ed..you're a prankster. A goofball who will do whatever it takes to protect your family. Plus, your love for animals makes you even more attractive."

The two kissed, both in the comfort of each other's presence. "I say we ditch this shit hole and go to our place." Cyrus said, Edric nodding.
"Absolutely. I can't stand it here. Everyone's looking at us."
"Ed, it's probably cus we're two hot tamales."
"No, it's probably because we're gay."
"Oh. Fair point! SUCK A DICK YOU HOMOPHOBIC CUNTS!" Cyrus shouted as they left

The two sat on that hill, now lit up by a thousand stars in the breathtaking night sky.
Cyrus had his head on Edric's shoulder, the two taking in the surrounding noises. It was quiet and peaceful, far away from the troubles of the boys' personal lives. There was no trouble here, only the two of them.

"So, wanna continue our dance?" Edric asked, as he stood up.
"It would be an honor."

Despite there being no music, the two danced, using nature as their soundtrack.

It began to rain, but Cyrus and Edric were far from bothered. Their dances continued, Cyrus being dipped downward.

Everything was going well, until a new sound filled the air. Police sirens.
Cyrus looked at his phone, gasping. "Fuck! I forgot there was a town wide curfew. Get in the car, Ed!"
Edric didn't budge.
"Edric! Go!" Cyrus shouted.
"I'm not letting you deal with this alone. I'm not leaving your side."

The two sat there as police chief Bradley Elway approached them. "You boys have any idea what time it is?"

"Twelve AM sir. An hour past curfew." Edric replied.
"Right. So care to explain to me why you're out here?" The officer sounded annoyed, both teens looking at him.

"We left the homecoming dance to come out here. Lost track of time." Cyrus explained, Elway shaking his head.

"Alright. I'll let you off the hook this once. Get on home, Cyrus. Edric, I'll drive you back to your house."

Edric and Cyrus quickly kissed before parting ways.

"Where the hell have you been all night!? Sucking dick?"
Despite being sick, Hunter was still on his usual bullshit.
"No, and for your information I regret checking on you now." Cyrus stood in Hunter's doorway, arms crossed.
Hunter coughed, flipped Cyrus off, and went back to sleep.

Cyrus now entered the nursery, staring at an awake Riley. "Whatcha doin up, bug?"
"Hi!" Riley just said, Cyrus giggled. "Hi to you too! Alright, let's get you changed and back to bed."
Once Cyrus finished that task, he placed Riley back in the crib, placing her stuffies next to her. Cyrus kissed Riley's head, making sure she was asleep before exiting. As Cyrus approached Seren's door, he heard noises. Seren was awake and playing on the floor.
"Hey Ser! Can you go back to bed buddy?"
Seren pouted. "But I wanna play, Cyrus!" He whined.
"Alright...one more game. Can I play?"
"Sure!"

After an unavoidable game of hide and seek, Cyrus entered his bedroom, smiling wildly.

One day, he would marry Edric, and the two would dance together on that lonely hill
