Hunter sat on his mother's bed at two am. Night sighed, brushing his hair "you have to go to bed at some point, Cariño."
"No. Must work and fulfill my duties." He muttered
He was stuck in a flashback
Night pulled him close. She wondered how often he was given a chance to sleep at Philip's house. "What duties, little prince?"
He blinked. "Must find the bad people and criminals dad doesn't like and drag them to his domain. And do very dangerous tasks for him. If I do a good job, I'm sent to my room, or given another task. If I do poorly, I'm punished."He suddenly snapped out of it, burying his face into his now shocked mother's chest. He was shaking like a leaf. Night sat there, holding her son. "Easy, easy. You're not with Philip anymore. Look at me, baby boy."
Hunter looked up at his mother, a tired look in his eyes. Bags as dark as the night sky lay beneath them. "Come on, it's time for bed. I'll keep you safe."
Night patted the spot beside her. Hunter crawled into that spot. "Snuggle up with mama, little prince."
He curled up right next to his mama, and he was out like a light.
Sunny walked in, and was on the other side of Hunter. "You finally got him to sleep?"
Night nodded. "Took awhile. He was stuck in a flashback. And the shit I learned makes my blood boil."
Sunny looked concerned. "Can you tell me?"
Night shook her head. "When he's up and out of bed I will. Now go to sleep, Sunrise."
And so, he didNight kept a watchful eye on Hunter, watching as his scrawny chest went up and down with every small breath.
This was her son
And Philip would never hurt him again
