Hunter sat on his bed, pen in his mouth and eyes on his work. It was two thirty in the morning, and here he was, doing homework. Well, more like extra credit. A cry erupted like a volcano from the nursery, and he got up, running down the hall, his cardinal themed socks making small noises. He entered the room, taking care of Riley. Once she was changed, she refused to go back to bed. She wanted him, clinging to his neck like a baby koala. "Untew stay!" She cried. He sighed, grabbing Riley's blankets. He made a nest for her next to him on the bed. Seren then entered the room, looking at him. "Can I join?!" He asked, and Hunter nodded. Seren hopped onto the bed, and sat behind Riley.
The boy needed to get these kids to sleep asap. Hunter grabbed a story book from the nursery, plopping his ass back onto the bed. "Alright, kiddos! Who's ready for story time with Hunter?"
The toddler and kindergartener got excited, and immediately snuggled up with him.
The story wasn't even halfway done when the kids were asleep. Hunter smiled as the two clung to his shirt and cuddled with him. Hunter himself was soon sleeping, finally able to rest.
Night woke up, entering Riley's room. She was confused when seeing the crib empty. "What the fuck?" She walked around the house, before stopping at Hunter's door. It was slightly cracked open , which was unusual as Hunter often had it closed completely before bed. Night peeked in, seeing Riley asleep in his arms, and Seren clinging to his shirt. Night snapped a photo before closing the door.
"Wow, that dork really looks exhausted. Keep him home today, ma." Cyrus said, drinking a cup of black coffee.
"I plan on that, twilight. Go get ready for school."
Cyrus was gone and Night smiled.
She was so blessed to have such caring kids who looked out for each other.
