Harmony's POV:

That night, I managed to sneak off again. Though I have some disabilities, and I'm pretty young, I can still do plenty of stuff normal people can do. I actually sneak off a lot during the night. I walked to my favorite spot. The beach.

My dad used to come here a lot. The beach was always a nice, calm place where we can go to get away from our troubles for a while.

Now, I don't know if running away from your problems is a good idea, but we don't really do that. We just come here to think and kinda calm ourselves.

Sometimes, I think I see something on the beach. It looks like a merman, but I'm in the distance, so I can't really get a clear view. Plus, if I get too close, he swims away. I've seen him on the beach before. It seems like he might be kinda like mama. He can't turn his tail into legs on land.

I wish I could make friends with him. I've never really had one of those before...Even at the park, I'm just sitting on the swings alone, while my sister is off with her friends. I don't say anything, because I don't want her to feel it's her duty and um...what's the word? Obligation. That's it. It's her obligation to be with me every second. She has her own life, and I don't want to stop her from having fun.

I sat in my usual spot. Some rocks. I always sat there when I came.

Suddenly, I saw something strange. It looked like that merman, but it was much smaller than I thought. I guess maybe he was just a kid. Like me. He looked like he was caught on something. I crept a little closer. He saw me and tried to swim away, but he couldn't.

Now, I'm not a great swimmer, even with me being a mermaid like mama, but I couldn't just leave this little boy here alone and stuck.

I walked closer to him. The closer I got, the more scared he looked. "I-it's ok..I w-won't hut y-you." I said quietly, as I took his hand at looked into his eyes. They were full of fear and pain. I went into the water and smiled as I felt myself transform.

Little boy's POV:

I practically shook with fear as I watched this strange girl approach. She looked like she was only three!

I tried to swim away, but my tail was caught between some rocks and I couldn't get myself free.

The girl stopped in front of me and took my hand. I looked at her. I could tell she was....nice...Somehow...I could see something in her eyes...Like she knew kinda how I felt.

After she took my hand, she looked into my eyes and said, "I-it's ok..I w-won't hut y-you.." She then went into the water and transformed...Into a mermaid?! Oh plankton! Oh no! Not a mermaid! If my parents find out, I'm dead meat!

She dove into the water and took hold of my tail. I jumped and tried to wriggle free of her grasp. "P-please stop s-stwuggwing. I-I want t-to h-help y-you," I heard her say.

Finally, I felt my tail slip out of the rocks.

 The girl swam off but she soon returned with some seaweed. She wrapped it around my tail, like a bandage. "M-my m-mama taught m-me how t-to m-make a b-bandage out of s-seaweed." she explained. "C-can I a-ask, w-what's your n-name? W-what are y-you e-exactly?" I didn't answer.

When she was finished, she told me to try swimming around a little bit. I did, and I successfully swam! Just like normal! I smiled my thanks to the stranger and dove into the sea. I didn't know it then, but, I was going to see this kind young girl again, years later..

Harmony's POV:

"T-there, t-try s-swimming," I told him. He swam a little and it looked like my seaweed bandage worked. He looked at me with a thankful smile before swimming off. I never got his name, or even what he was exactly. But I guess it's ok.

I wanted to know what he was, because I've seen plenty of mermen, mermaids, and merboys and girls. None of them ever had a tail like that. He had fins on the side of his tail! Further up, kinda where his thighs would be if he had them. His tail was black. Most merfolk, if they have black tails, it's usually in a way, mixed with a different color. And, this boy's tail was all black. One color. He also had black hair. Now, mama may have had dark brown hair when she lived down under the sea, but not black. No merperson has even had black hair.

I shrugged, and mentally wished him well, thinking I'd never see him again. But, little did I know, this wasn't the last time I'd see him. Or free him from a rock either.
