The Mermaid's Unexpected Mate

Chapter 37

Harmony's POV:

 The girls, mom, Aunt Leah, and Aunt Louise, and I are all looking for my wedding dress. 

 Aerwyna is going to wear mama's dress. It has long sleeves with light blue accents. She tried it on a couple days ago and she looked really pretty. Mama had tears in her eyes. It was pretty emotional. I probably would have wanted to wear her dress, but I know Aerwyna has wanted to wear it since she was little. Only once did we argue. That was the first time she mentioned ever wanting to wear it. We were eight at the time. Since then, whenever she mentioned it, I just smiled and told her she would be beautiful in it. And it was true. She did look really pretty in it. Even mom said so. I think she looks better in it than me. Besides, I have pink in my strawberry blond hair. It might not look good with the blue. 

 I know about what I want in my dress, but it is really hard to find. In fact, we left that day without having found it...Mama said not to worry about the dress though. I was so confused. 

 Well, anyway, when we got home, Raidne and Kamilia went to hang out with their mates. Mom and my aunts went to prepare some dinner. My sister got a call from Darnell, so that left Delia and I alone. Personally, I'm glad. I kinda wanted to talk to her. 

 Delia and I went into the living room and sat down. Lately, Delia has been looking really down. I frowned and put my hand on hers. 

 "A-are you o-o-ok, D-Delia..?" I asked. She shook her head. 

 Normally, I know she would have tried to lie and say she was fine, but I think she really feels so down, she wasn't even going to try. I scooted closer to her and hugged her tight. She cried on my shoulder. I'm worried. When we let go of the embrace, I asked what was bothering her. 

 "Kamilia is having a baby....You and Aerwyna are getting married...Earwyn is already married...And Jack is planning a proposal for Raidne! When is it my turn...? Don't I deserve to be happy too?...Do I even have a mate...?" she shook her head and looked away. My eyes were wide as I looked at her. "I wasn't so jealous when I found out you met your mate and when Earwyn met Dawn. I started to feel a little sad when Aerwyna found Darnell...And then, Kamilia and Jack....And then everyone getting marked! The next thing I know, Kamilia and John and Earwyn and Dawn are married! Then Kamilia is pregnant....I just want to be happy Harmony...You have to believe me, I'm happy for all of you. I am honored to be your bride's maid. But I just can't help but feel so....alone....I am 21 years old....When will I find my happy ending..?" 

 "Oh, D-Delia...I'm s-s-so sorry! I k-kn-know i-i-it's hard t-t-t-t-to w-wait f-f-for h-him. E-especially w-w-w-with e-e-everyone a-a-around you m-m-moving on with th-their m-m-mates." I panted a little as I spoke. I guess I was having a little trouble trying to talk. Delia looked at me with a slight frown. "I know i-i-it's h-hard to b-b-be p-patient...I c-c-can't i-i-imagine what y-y-y-you're g-g-going through...I kn-know that o-o-o-out there s-s-somewhere, i-i-is a m-m-m-man who w-w-will l-l-love you a-a-a-and be s-s-so w-w-worth the w-wait." I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. Today it's just hard to talk. "I d-d-do know t-th-that h-h-h-he w-w-will c-come when the t-t-time is r-r-right." 

 "I guess you're right...It's just hard, y'know..?" 

 I nodded and wrapped an arm around her. "I-I know...B-b-but n-no m-m-m-matter how l-l-l-long it t-takes, w-w-we'll a-a-always be h-here for y-you." 

 "Thank you, Harmony.." Delia gave me a small smile. 

 "N-n-no p-problem, D-Delia."
