Earwyn's POV:
"Um, guys? You ok?" I asked my sisters. They had been yawning all day.
"Yea, we're ok." Aerwyna said.
"Um, ok?" I shook my head and continued walking. We were going for a walk around the pack. I think they were trying to find my mate. "Can I ask why you guys think my mate is here?? We've been practically all over the pack!" I exclaimed.
"E-exactly! P-practically! There's s-s-still part o-of t-the p-p-p-pack we haven't l-l-looked!" Harmony said with enthusiasm.
I rolled my eyes. I was going to humor them, but I honestly highly doubted I was gonna find my-
"Mate! I smell her scent!" my wolf interrupted my thoughts. My eyes were wide. He was right! I had at that moment, gotten the scent too. I started running in the direction of the scent.
"Told ya." Aerwyna mind-linked me.
I rolled my eyes and continued running. I'd definitely have to thank my sisters later. I suddenly stopped short. A beautiful girl huddled under a tree curled up in a ball, was surrounded by some of our pack's warriors. The scent I took in was wonderful. Cinnamon and peppermint...
I immediately stepped in between the girl and the warriors. The warriors looked up at me in surprise and shifted.
"E-Earwyn! What are you doing here?" one of them asked.
"I was with my sisters looking for my mate." I answered coldly. They looked almost afraid. I could see why. I'm the son the the Alpha and I'm getting stronger every day.
"Why are you defending this-this thing??" another pointed in disgust at my lovely mate, who was shivering in fear. She had peaked up a minute ago I saw. She froze at the sight of me, realizing I was her mate, most likely. But now, her head was back in her arms. My heart broke at seeing my lovely mate so afraid. I was angry at the warriors for doing this to her.
"Because she is my mate. And I expect you all to apologize to her and to me for scaring her. And if you have in anyway harmed her, I will not hesitate to hurt you." my tone was ice cold. They cowered under my gaze. Well, all except one.
"I'm not going to apologize! Do you not realize what she is?! She is a vampire! She is one of the evil creatures that your parents, the Beta, Gamma, and us warriors fought years ago! It is my job to protect this pack and I'm not going to apologize for doing my duty!"
I growled at him. I could feel my wolf taking over. He wanted to rip this man to shreds. We would have too, if Harmony hadn't stepped in.
"B-big b-brother! S-stop! We k-know you want t-t-t-to g-give h-her a chance. B-but d-d-don't h-harm h-him." she was struggling over her words.
"What she's trying to say, bro, is that he was just trying to protect the pack. The last time this pack faced vampires, was not so pleasant. They had to fight them off. That is what is going through his mind. He's thinking he needs to protect. They all are. Plus, Earwyn, I don't think mom and dad are going to like it very much if you kill one of their best warriors." Aerwyna stepped in and finished for Harmony. Harmony smiled, but there was something....not quite right.
"Fine. Go. And tell father and mother that I want to see them. Inform them that we'll be having company."
"Yes, Earwyn," the warrior said, as he and the others ran off.
After they were gone, I knelt down in front of my mate. "Hello, baby...my name is Earwyn. I am the future Alpha of this pack. May I know your name?" I whispered gently.
She looked up at me, her eyes filled with emotion. "My name is Dawn...I mean no harm...I thought this was unclaimed territory.." she explained, still fearful. "I shall understand if you want nothing to do with me. I too have heard of that great war between your pack, my people, and merfolk. But I want you to understand, before you reject me, that I saw how wrong we were! Your pack did nothing wrong. And I also realized that your Luna's father lied to the sea king. I am now what you could call, a rogue vampire. I have left my kind."
I nodded and lifted her head so she was looking straight at me. "Dawn, I do not wish to reject you. I have spent years waiting for you. And now, I've found you. I will never abandon you, my Dawn. You shall be my ray of sunshine on a rainy day! On a gloomy day, you will brighten my life like no one's business!" She smiled.
"I'd like that...I'm tired of being dark...I want to be bright and beautiful...But I'll always be dark...I'll always be feared because of who I am. A vampire prin-" my mate stopped short.
"What is it, Dawn? You can tell me." I told her. She sighed and finally answered.
"Please, don't tell anyone. Not even your parents.." I nodded as she continued. "I am not just a vampire, Earwyn. I am a vampire princess. Vampires have kings. I am the daughter of the vampire king. Though, I wish to forget it. My younger brother can have my place as ruler of the vampires."
"Oh, my Dawn, even of you weren't a vampire princess, you are a princess to me. And now, you are future Luna of this pack, if you will have me as your mate." I said, meaning every word.
"I will be yours, if you will be mine..." she said, putting her head on my shoulder. I smiled.
"Now, baby, do you hurt anywhere? Did those warriors harm you in anyway?"
"Well, no, they didn't harm me...But...While I was running away from some crazy wolves who seriously seemed blood-thirsty, I twisted my ankle. They attacked me. That's why I'm...kinda bloodied and bruised a little." she told me.
"Those wolves must've been rogues! How did you escape?" my sister, Aerwyna asked. I had momentarily forgotten my sisters were there.
"Dawn, these are my sisters, Aerwyna, and Harmony. They will keep your secret I assure you." I told her.
"It's nice to meet you...Well, I got away by flashing my vampire form at them. It scared them so much, they ran away and I somehow managed to crawl here." she told us.
"D-don't w-worry, m-miss. W-we'll g-g-get you t-t-to," Harmony was really struggling.
"Take a deep breath, miss. Slowly," Dawn said. She took Aerwyna and I by surprise.
Harmony nodded and tried to speak. But nothing came out.
Aerwyna put her hand on her shoulder and smiled reassuringly. "We'll get you to the pack doctor. You'll be fine, ma'am."
"Thank you," Dawn smiled. She has such a pretty smile!
