The Mermaid's Unexpected Mate

Chapter 42

 Harmony's POV:

 Alon and I have finally made it back home. It was an amazing honeymoon. We went to the beach where I shifted into my wolf. Sierra and I both agreed it was good to be back. We wanted to surprise the family, so we didn't tell them we were coming. We stopped just at the door. 

 "W-why'd w-w-we stop?" I asked Alon. 

 "Because there's something we need to do before walking in." With that, he picked me up bridal style. I squealed and held onto him. I giggled and smiled up at him.

 I don't remember the last time I smiled as I have these past couple weeks. My wedding, my honeymoon, today. I don't think this smile is leaving any time soon. We shared a kiss before he carried me into the house. 

 "W-we're home!" I called out. At once, everyone came running. 

 "Hamony! Alon! When did you get back??" Aerwyna asked quickly. 

 "Just now." Alon answered. 

 "Why didn't you tell us??" dad asked. 

 "W-w-we wanted t-t-to s-surprise you." We smiled at them. We all hugged each other before going into the living room to catch up. 

 "S-s-so, d-d-did K-Kamilia find o-out the g-g-gender of the b-b-baby?" I asked. 

 "Yes, we did. John, do you want to tell them?" 

 "Alright, honey." John and Kamilia smiled at each other before John turned to us. "We're having a boy!" 

 "Congratulations!" Alon and I said at the same time. We looked over at each other and laughed. 

 "Jack and I actually have something we want to tell you, brother." Raidne spoke up. 

 "What is it?"

 They looked at each other before chorusing, "We're engaged!" 

 "For real?? Congratulations!" Alon smiled at them. 

 "C-c-congratulations!" I replied. 

 "Well, now that they've told you their surprise, it's time for ours." Earwyn stated. I looked at him quizzically. "Harmony, you're gonna be an aunt." he declared. 

 My eyes went wide, my mind trying to register those words. "Y-y-you're g-gonna have a b-b-b-baby?" I asked slowly. Dawn and Earwyn nodded with a smile. "Oh, c-c-congratulations!" I squealed.

 "Congrats, Earwyn, Dawn." Alon smiled at them. We hugged Earwyn and Dawn, Kamilia and John, and Raidne and Jack. 

 A few minutes later, Alon and I went up to our room. It was Alon's room he had been staying in. 

 "Harmony, how do you feel about becoming a mom..?" Alon asked as he put some of the clothes from our suitcases away. 

 I stopped what I was doing and looked at him. "W-w-what d-do you m-m-mean, A-Alon?" 

 "I mean....How do you feel about us becoming parents?" 

 "D-do y-y-you want t-t-to t-try for a b-b-baby..?" 

 He nodded slowly. "It's ok if you don't want to or you aren't ready! I'm happy with it being just you and me." he said quickly before I could say anything. 

 I laughed. "W-w-we can t-t-try f-f-for a b-baby, A-A-Alon. I a-a-actually w-wanted to a-ask y-y-you about t-th-that." 

 "Really?" he asked, looking at me. I nodded with a smile. We came up to me and hugged me. "I know you'll make a great mom." 

 "A-a-and you'll m-m-make a g-g-great d-d-dad." 

 Aerwyna's POV:

 Mine and Darnell's wedding is next month. We are really busy getting ready for it. At least the most important step is done. The dress and location. We want a beach wedding like Harmony and Alon. It's of course going to be decorated differently. The chairs will have lace hanging from the backs and joining the rows together. The flowers will be peach colored roses. I'll be holding a bouquet of those with white baby's breath. The altar will be inside a heart in the sand. That's where the preacher, Darnell, and I will stand.

 Right now, Darnell and I are sitting on the beach. I'm in my mermaid form and my tail is in the water. 

 "Darnell, how do you feel about children?" I looked over at him. 

 He looked at me. "Well, I have to admit, I always kinda wanted one. Why?" 

 "Because...I want a child!" I blurted out. I had been thinking about this since I found out Kamilia was pregnant. I was a little nervous about talking to Darnell about it. 

 "You do?" he asked me. I nodded slowly. "Ok, then. Our wedding night certainly will be exciting." 

 "Darnell!" I scolded with a laugh. But, he was right. My wedding would be one of the best days of my life.

 Unknown POV:

 I had always dreamed of being a dad. That is, until I became a monster...I am not someone you would trust around your child or anyone else you care about. That's why I live outside the pack, away from everyone else. I'm staying in my aunt's cabin. I know she was disliked by basically everyone in the pack. Especially by the Gamma. I groaned softly. Why did I come here...? I shouldn't be here! As much as I tried to leave, I couldn't. I just felt drawn or pulled to this pack. I don't understand it. Probably never will as long as I live alone and stay alone. But, that's how I plan to stay for the rest of my life. Alone.
