Harmony's POV:

I sat alone on the beachside that evening. I wasn't expecting to see Alon, it's just that, I needed some time alone...to think. I'm supposed to unite the merfolk and sirens, but how can I do that if I can't even talk?? I don't know how long I was there, but I was there for a while. Without my realizing it, I think I was there when it got dark. All I did was sit, think, and cry. I really hate being so different. Why was I chosen? Why wasn't it Aerwyna? She has much better people skills and she can talk. And she doesn't look ten years old.

Alon's POV:

I waited till my family was asleep before I snuck off to see Harmony. I was so excited! For the first time in my life, I feel.....I don't know! Happy? Is this what being happy feels like? She wants me too! She doesn't want to reject me!

"Brother..? Is that you?" a voice interrupted my thoughts.

"Oh! Uh..Raidne! hey!" I gulped nervously as my sister swam forward.

"What are you doing up at this time?" she asked.

"I could ask y-you the same question!" I shot back at her. Raidne looked at me suspiciously.

"I heard something so I came to check it out. Now answer my question, brother." she scowled at me.

"I-I just came to get a quick snack! I couldn't sleep, so I thought some Fin Pudding would help me get tired.." I answered, hoping she would just accept it and leave it at that. My sister seemed accept it. She nodded and swam away towards her room.

As you probably guessed, we are not exactly siblings that get along. We never get along. Raidne has always been mom and dad's favorite child. Meanwhile, I'm over here trying to get their attention.

I've always been a little different from other sirens. For starters, which is the most important thing, I never liked using my siren voice to harm sailors or anyone else for that matter. Sometimes, I wish I wasn't a siren. Sometimes, I sneak to the border between our land and merfolk land. I watch from a distance all the merfolk as they swim around and have fun. I've never had fun. All I've ever done was learn to fight, practice my siren magic, which includes my voice. I have one of the most powerful voices among siren kind, but I prefer not to use it. One reason why mother and father favor Raidne over me.

I swam out of the house and managed to get to the beach without getting caught. But, when I saw Harmony, my heart practically broke. My little mate was crying.

"Harmony? What's wrong?" I asked her as I swam closer.

 She looked up at me, startled. "O-oh! I-I-I'm s-sorry! I d-d-didn't n-notice y-y-you w-were h-here.." she replied.

I sat up on the beach in front of her, and took her head in my hands so she'd look at me. "Harmony, what is it that's troubling you..?" Harmony looked into my eyes. I could see the pain and sorrow...It hurt me deeply. "Harmony, tell me whoever hurt you and I'll hurt them back! I swear!" I said firmly.

 "N-no, A-Alon...I-it's n-n-not s-something that a-anyone d-d-d-did..." She said, with some struggles.

 "Then what is it?"

 She sighed before she answered. "I w-was c-c-chosen b-by t-the G-Great O-Oracle o-of the S-Sea a-and t-the M-Moon G-Goddess t-to b-bring p-p-peace b-b-b-between s-s-sirens and m-merfolk. W-wolves i-included..." she said before taking a deep breath and attempting to continue. I was honestly really shocked at what I was hearing. "I-I've a-always d-doubted that I w-w-was a-anything s-special. B-but n-now, I-I'm s-struggling w-worse t-t-to t-talk w-w-worse t-than u-usual! H-how a-am I s-s-supposed to b-bring p-peace b-between m-m-m-merfolk a-and s-sirens if I c-can't e-even t-talk??"

I sighed. "Harmony, I don't know how even a normal person could bring peace between us. But I do know, you are very special. I don't know why you were chosen, but you were chosen for a reason. Now, I don't know very much of anything when it comes to the moon goddess or the great oracle. We sirens usually just do what we want and don't worry about anyone or anything. But from what I've heard, they guide you. The moon goddess chooses mates. And, also, from what I've heard, the oracle and moon goddess are never wrong. They always have a reason...And I think, if anyone can bring peace and harmony, it's you."

"M-me?" she repeated, as if she wasn't sure she heard me correctly.

"Yes, Harmony. And you may look ten instead of sixteen. And you might talk with a stutter. But I believe you can do it. If I'm right, that mark was given by the goddess and oracle, right?" she nodded as I continued. "Harmony, you bare that mark for a reason. You were chosen for a reason. We were given each other for a reason. And I have faith you'll bring the harmony and peace we need." I smiled at her and took her in my arms.

 "T-t-thank y-you, A-Alon.." she whispered.

"Of course, Harmony! I love you.." I whispered back.

When we finally let go of each other, I asked her of she wanted to go for a swim. She nodded with a smile. We dove in together, and I saw the most beautiful mermaid tail I'd ever seen in my life. When we first met, all I was really focused on was the fact she was a mermaid. Her pink and strawberry blond hair really went well with it.

 "You look...lovely..." I whispered.

"T-that y-you.." she smiled shyly. We swam around for hours. She taught me how to have fun. And I sure did have fun! I've never known anyone like her. She's so unique, so special, so...beautiful and kind..so caring...Just plain wonderful in every way.
