The Mermaid's Unexpected Mate

Chapter 36

 Earwyn's POV:

 I was really happy for my little sisters. Dawn and I had gotten married six months ago, so I know how amazing it is. I was proclaimed Alpha at the wedding ceremony. 

 Jack hasn't been proclaimed Gamma, but possibly soon. Kamilia's mate, John, is still in training to be Beta. They did get married about a year ago, though. I honestly think that John and Jack will make a great Beta and Gamma.

 I know with everyone finding their mates, being marked, getting engaged, and being married, Delia is really looking on edge. She probably feels left out because she hasn't found her mate yet. We suggest to her maybe her mate is in another pack. A couple of packs have visited, but no luck. We even visited a couple of other packs with her, but still, no mate. I feel bad for her. Delia, Jack, Kamilia, my siblings, and I are really close. It makes sense, though, seeing as their parents are my parents best friends and their dads are the Beta and Gamma for mom and dad. Anyway, I don't like seeing her so upset. I have a feeling she might be giving up. I hope not, but still. 

 Dawn and I were in my dad's-my office-I'll never get used to that. I was doing some paperwork and Dawn was helping me where I needed it. Things were going to be mighty busy. 

 Alon and Harmony wanted to get married in maybe a month or two! Well, I can't really blame them. I didn't want to wait but I managed to survive the long wait. I was literally counting the hours from the moment I asked her and she said yes. That was a year ago. Dawn and the girls were going to go shopping for a dress next week. 

 At that moment, I heard a thud coming from upstairs. It sounded like it came from Kamilia and John's room...They were staying with us until they found a house of their own. 

 "What was that?" Dawn asked in confusion. 

 "I don't know...But I'm gonna find out. Stay here and be on guard." I know the likely hood of it being something bad is slim to none, but I don't take chances. I'm a cautious man and Alpha. I went up the stairs and knocked on their door. 

 "Come in!" I heard Kamilia say. Well she doesn't sound threatened...I went in and saw John slumped in a chair, Kamilia kneeling beside him. 

 "What happened here..?" I asked, seeing there was nothing dangerous afoot. 

 "He got a little excited and fainted.." she answered. "He'll be ok in a minute, I think." John has a condition where sometimes, when he gets too excited, he passes out. It might be a little dangerous for the pack, but he's working on it. I think we can make it work. 

 "Why was he so excited?" 

 "I told him I was pregnant." she looked at me and smiled. My eyes went wide. Holy carp, Kamilia is having a baby. 

 "For real??" I asked, still not sure if I quite heard what she said correctly. 

 "Yes, Earwyn!"

 "Congratulations!" I exclaimed. 

 "Thank you. John and I are really excited about it. Well, that's obvious about John, but anyways, yea." she smiled. We talked a little longer before I went back down to the office. 

 "So, what was that about? You were gone a while. I could feel through the mate bond you were really excited about something." Dawn stated. 

 "Kamilia's pregnant." I explained. Kamilia said I could tell Dawn. Dawn stared at me wide-eyed before smiling brightly. 

 "That's great!" she exclaimed. I nodded and sat down beside her in my chair. 

 "I guess we can add this to the paperwork. One more pregnancy." I remarked, writing it down. We have a lot of pregnancies in the pack. Meaning, more paperwork. My favorite thing to do as Alpha.....Not.
