Raidne's POV:
I saw my brother sneaking out. I was confused and suspicious, so I followed him. I didn't follow him too close. What's weird, is he was going to the surface. When he stopped, he was at a beach. I hid behind some rocks and watched closely. I then saw a girl come walking up to him. He took her hand and the smiled at her. "What is he doing??" I thought.
I watched the two for maybe an hour and a half. Perhaps two hours. Just as I was about to leave, I saw the girl getting in the water. I gasped when I saw what was going on. She began to glow. When the glowing stopped, she had a tail. A mermaid tail! My brother was hanging out with a mermaid! "I need to tell mother and father!" I said to myself and quickly swam off.
Third Person POV:
Yes. Raidne found out her brother's secret. She had no idea she was his mate, but she didn't care either. She just swam off to tell her parents. And as you can probably imagine, this would cause a lot of problems. But, this was only the beginning. The beginning of the couple's real adventure and troubles. And most importantly, the beginning of Harmony's destiny.
Harmony's POV:
I didn't realize it had gotten so late. I stayed there with Alon until morning! I was now walking home. I had stayed on the beach a little while after he left. I was just thinking. Only, when I opened the door, I saw my family standing there. Mom and dad looked mad. Earwyn and Aerwyna looked worried.
"Harmony, where were you??" my mom asked.
"I-I w-w-w-was t-taking a w-w-w-w-walk..." I said, my stutter worse than normal. It does that when I'm nervous.
"Don't lie to us, Harmony. And where did you get this?" my dad held up my pearl hairpin from Alon. I gasped and snatched it away from him. I quickly pinned it in my hair after making sure it was alright.
"Harmony, answer me. Where did you get that hairclip?" my dad's voice was raised, a little higher than normal. "Harmony, those pearls are the rarest pearls in the ocean. They are only found in siren territory. Sirens, Harmony. Now tell us where you got them!" I was about to make up an excuse when I suddenly heard something.
"I recognize that voice....Mate!!" Sierra gasped in concern, her eyes filled with worry.
"Alon!!" I screamed.
"Who is Alon??" my dad asked.
"M-my mate. A s-s-siren. I'm p-p-p-proud of it t-too. H-he's in d-d-d-danger. I-I n-n-need y-y-y-your h-help. P-p-please." I said firmly.
"What!!? Siren!!? Harmony Gracelynn are you crazy!?" my mom shrieked.
"You go up to your room right now, young lady. And give me that pin. Then, I expect you to think of a rejection for this siren. I will not allow you to be with a siren. They are evil!" my dad demanded.
I shook my head. "No."
"What do you mean no??? I gave you an order and I expect you to follow it."
"I c-can't l-leave A-Alon w-when he's in d-d-d-danger. He i-i-is-isn't evil. I-if you won't h-h-h-h-h-help me I-I-I'll d-d-d-do it o-o-o-o-on m-my own." I struggled to say. I normally would have stopped talking with the first word I had trouble with, but I had to say what was on my mind. "I-I'm not g-g-g-giving y-y-y-y-you this p-pin e-e-either." and with that, I turned and ran off. I'd heard Alon calling me with our song. His voice was strained. I could tell he was in danger.
"HARMONY GRACELYNN! GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!!" my dad yelled in his alpha tone. It was hard, but I ignored him and continued running.
Marina's POV:
I watched as my daughter ran away. There was a pain in my heart. I had tears in my eyes.
"Shh...I'm here, water lily.." Michael hugged me.
"Mom, dad." my son walked up to us. He and Aerwyna looked cross.
"I can't believe you two! Can't you see your hurting her?! You've made her feel like a caged bird all her life! You've kept such a tight hold on her it's a wonder she ever found her mate! I'm glad she did. She's been happier ever since she found him and I'm grateful to him!" Aerwyna yelled at us.
"He's playing her, Aerwyna! She isn't his real mate! It's impossible!" Michael declared.
"Oh, shark bite! It was impossible for a wolf to be mated with a mermaid! And what do you think you two are???? Huh?? A mermaid and a wolf! And if you won't accept him, then they'll find a way to be together without you. I won't be surprised if she runs away. And if I know, I won't stop her. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to help my future brother in law." Aerwyna ran out of the house.
Earwyn walked forward. "You can't escape her destiny forever. She will have to face it one way or another and she'll need her family's support through it all. But if you are too stubborn to help and support her, then Aerwyna and I will do it on our own. I know Dawn and Darnell will help too." He started to walk away, but stopped and turned. "You had a war with merfolk and vampires. Yet, you didn't distrust Dawn and she's the vampire princess. I am so disappointed in you both.." And with that, he walked away. Michael and I walked to the doorway. We saw him talking to Dawn and Darnell. They eagerly nodded and followed him to the beach.
"Were we wrong...Michael...? Are they right...?"
"I....I don't know, Marina..." he said in a quiet voice.
"Oh, geode...If only there was a way to talk to the moon goddess or the Great Oracle of the Sea or something!"
"Water lily, calm down...It's alright..We'll think of something." Michael held me close and kissed me. All of a sudden, I felt a presence in the room. Like...we weren't the only ones. "Geode..? Do you sense someone in the room with us...or am I imagining things..?"
Michael shook his head. "I sense it too.." he mumbled.
We turned our heads and stared in pure shock. "The moon goddess and the oracle..." I whispered.
"Marina. Michael." the oracle said. They didn't look happy. "You have tried to escape her destiny. You should have known it would find her even with all your efforts to escape."
"Great Oracle, we just-"
"You just wanted to protect her. We understand that, Marina. But you cannot protect her forever." the moon goddess responded.
"You don't understand! She's different than others! She-" Michael exclaimed but was cut off.
"We know. But she isn't helpless. She is a strong girl. Stronger than you give her credit for. There is a reason she was chosen for this." the oracle said.
"But she can't handle it!"
"Geode...let them speak..." I said quietly.
"Thank you, Marina. If you really took the time to get to know your daughter, you would find it's you who doesn't understand, Michael. Both of you." the oracle said, a serious look on her face.
"Why are you even here?! You should be protecting my daughter! You should be bringing her home!"
"Michael! Stop." I shushed him.
"We are here because this is where we need to be. And Harmony is where she needs to be. On her way to find her mate. We are here because you have kept Harmony on a leash her whole life and it's time you let her go. Harmony is not a dog. She is a person with feelings. And she's hurting. Do you even realize all the negative thoughts you've caused to go through her mind? You wouldn't let her go to school, so she thinks there's no one who'd want to be her friend. You've kept her so close under watch, she feels she can't fulfill her destiny because she's so different. You need to let her go. Support her. It's ok to protect her, but don't over protect her. You are keeping her from her happiness. Go to her." the moon goddess said firmly.
"Uncle Michael? Aunt Marina?" Kamilia asked from the stairwell. The moon goddess and Great Oracle disappeared.
"Guys? What's going on? Are you alright?" Ambrose asked.
"We just got a visit from the moon goddess..." Michael whispered.
"And the Great Oracle of the Sea..." I added.
