Alon's POV:

"Harmony, are you alright?" I asked.

She shook her head no. "I'm s-s-sorry A-A-A-A-" she panted through tears.

"Shh..It's alright. Deep breaths. Take it slow and easy."

 "I-I h-had a f-f-fight w-with m-m-m-my p-parents. I-it j-just s-slipped o-o-out!"

 "What did, Harmony?"

 "I t-t-told them I f-f-f-found m-my m-m-mate..." I sat up on the shore and got closer to her. "I d-d-didn't m-mean t-to...T-they c-c-could f-f-find o-out w-who y-y-you are any t-time!"

"It's alright...If they do, we will figure something out. I'm not ever going to leave you."

 She smiled at me sadly. "A-and I w-won't l-leave y-y-you."

"Here, let's go for a swim. It might cheer you up." She nodded eagerly and jumped in the water. "It'll have to be a short one because I need to get back before my father knows I'm gone."

 "O-ok." she replied.

We swam together a while. Probably longer than I was expecting, because when I finally got back, my dad was looking for me.

"Alon! Where were you?! I've been looking everywhere for you." he scowled.

"Sorry, father...I was just training by myself. I didn't mean to go so far." He sighed.

"Did you go anywhere near land or Aquatica?" I shook my head no, although I fully realize it was partly a lie. But I can't tell him I was up on land! Or that I was with a mermaid.

"Fine. Come, Alon. Your mother and sister are waiting." I nodded and followed my father back home.

 Darnell's POV:

Earwyn was not happy. That was obvious. He wanted to shift and attack the boy! By the time Aerwyna let go of him, though, Harmony and the siren boy were already in the water swimming away. And he can't go after them because he isn't a merman. Wolves aren't great swimmers. More often than not, we drown.

"Why didn't you let me help her?!" he yelled at Aerwyna.

I got in front of her protectively. "Earwyn, if you want to talk to my mate, you talk nicely to her. You dare yell at her again, I'll rip your tongue out." Earwyn gulped.

"Darnell!" my mate scolded. I guess I still have a few things I need to work on...Mainly fighting. "Earwyn, I didn't let you help her because she didn't need help."

"Of course she did, algae head! He's a siren!"

"And that siren it her mate! And if things work out the way I hope, our future brother-in-law. He isn't dangerous. He's different. He isn't evil. And don't you see how happy Harmony is?" We looked towards the sea at Harmony and the boy, who were splashing each other and laughing. "When was the last time you ever heard her laugh or saw her smile like that?" Aerwyna asked. Now I really was feeling bad for bullying Harmony.

"It's been a while, I guess..." Earwyn said quietly. Dawn had her hand on his shoulder.

"We are the only ones who know she has a siren mate. It has to stay that way. And I suggest, we not tell Harmony that you know. She's under enough strain and pressure. She doesn't need anymore."

We nodded and got up to leave. Earwyn walked Dawn home and Aerwyna walked me home.

"Aerwyna, I'm sorry.." I said quietly.

 "For what?" she asked.

"I'm sorry I bullied your sister and hurt her. She's a person just like me. With feelings. If someone hurt me or bullied me like that, I wouldn't like it..." Aerwyna looked at me as we stopped walking.

"I already forgave you when I accepted you as my mate." she smiled.

 "Thanks, Dew drop."

 "Of course.."

Third person POV:

Everything was going well for the next week or two. Harmony and her parents finally made up. They never spoke of her mate. They didn't want to ruin things. They were going to talk to her about it later. And, true to their word, Dawn, Darnell, and Eawyn never said a word about Harmony and her siren mate. But, soon, they didn't have to. For Harmony herself would soon tell them...Things were going well for Alon and our little mermaid, until one day, they had an unwanted guest at their secret meeting...
