Chapter 20

At the loud tap on the door, I slowly leapt from my bed, even nearly stumbling and falling to the floor. I am still not feeling well since the balut incident yesterday. Pagkauwi ko dito sa bahay kahapon ay naligo at natulog agad ako. Ngayong pagkagising ko ay masama pa rin ang pakiramdam ko. Hindi ko alam pero pakiramdam ko ay nanghihina ako kapag ganitong nakatayo. I'd rather sleep in my bed all day.

"Who is it?" I asked as I reached the door.

I heard my Kuya's voice so I've decided to open my door.

Nakita ko itong nakakunot ang noo.

"Laurent told me that you're not feeling well yesterday. Hindi ka na rin bumaba para maghapunan. And when we checked on you, you were already asleep. Are you now okay?" He asked in a soft voice at ngumiti ako.

"I'm fine, Kuya. It's probably the fish that I ate yesterday," sagot ko rito at tumango lang ito.

"Umuwi na si Laurentius but he said he's gonna fetch you later? You're gonna move to your condo later, right? Pinapasabi niya na siya na raw maghahatid sa'yo," He added and I nodded at that.

"Thanks, Kuya."

"Seriously, you need to buy a new phone at nang hindi ako ang kinukulit ng loko para lang maabot sa'yo ang mensahe niya!" Naiiritang sabi pa niya na ikindahilan ng pagkatawa ko.

"Yes, yes. Will try shopping today, " I said and he only nodded and then took his leave.

It was 11:00 AM when Laurentius picked me up. He looks so serious that when I try to look at his eyes, he'll avert them in other direction immediately.

"Hi!" I awkwardly said and he only nodded in response.

Hanggang sa umandar na ang sasakyan ay hindi pa rin kami nag-uusap.

"So..." pagbabasag ko sa katahimikan nang hindi na makayanan ang pagiging tahimik nito.

"I know that you are still thinking about the way I reacted on that balut yesterday. But Lau, it's not what you think," sabi ko rito and I saw how his jaw clenched.

"You're not sure about thatt, An. And please don't remind me that.  It will only make me want to fucking kill that guy." He said furiously.

Napapikit ako.

Damn it!

Kahapon ay nagawa kong sabihin sa kanya ang lahat. As in lahat lahat.

He has always been my confidante and we both can't keep a secret from each other. I'd like to think that he is my twin by spirit. That's how close we are.

Kaya naman inamin ko rito ang lahat ng nagawa kong pagkakamali sa isla kasama si Rett.

Of course, He got mad and went furious at me.

He was so disappointed at me for being in that intimate relationship with someone who is already taken!

He was so pissed. Hindi rin nakatulong ang paulit ulit niyang pagsaksi sa pagduduwal ko kahapon.

"I'll book an appointment for your check up, we need to be sure," He said nag-iiwas ng tingin.

Hindi nalang ako umimik.

I suddenly feel a huge lump on my throat.

Hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko kapag sakali ngang totoo ang hinala niya.

Am I ready for this?

Napabuntong hininga ako.

I feel so excited, nervous and sad. Sad, because his father might not acknowledge him.
