Eun Yeongro took a deep breath before knocking at the door of the familiar house located in the suburbs of Seoul. In one hand she held a pretty bundle of light blue and white flowers, and under her other arm she held a few tins of rice cakes from her grandmother's shop.

The door quickly opened, and the man standing behind it welcomed her with a warm smile.

"Annyeong, Yeongro-ya."

"Annyeong, Kangmu oppa," Yeongro said, smiling back at him.

Lee Kangmu opened the door wider for her to come in. "What's all this, Yeongro-ya? You didn't have to bring anything."

"Just some rice cakes from halmeoni," Yeongro said, handing them to Kangmu. "She insisted."

Kangmu smiled, thanking her and setting the tins down on the kitchen counter. Yeongro carefully placed the flowers down as well. She noticed that Kangmu seemed a bit wearier than usual, his hair messy and clothing a bit rumpled, like he'd just gotten out of bed, and he clearly hadn't shaved for a while either.

He offered her some coffee, but she politely declined.

"How have you been?" Yeongro asked as he poured himself a cup.

Kangmu shrugged, taking a sip. "Down on sleep. But that's to be expected, right?"

Yeongro gave him a sympathetic look. "Yeah, it is. How's Hanna unnie?"

"She's fine," Kangmu said. "I've been trying to make sure she gets enough rest, but now she wakes up at every little noise. I don't know how she's still functioning after a week."

Yeongro nodded as Kangmu poured another cup of coffee to take upstairs to Jang Hanna. "Can I go see them now?"

"Of course," he said, putting the coffee pot back on the machine. "You might want to wash your hands first, though."

Yeongro immediately agreed, carefully washing her hands in the kitchen sink before following Kangmu up the stairs. She'd been to their house only a couple times about a year ago, when she'd been helping Hanna and Kangmu move in right before they were married. Not much had changed since then, except for the addition of several framed photos on the wall. The home was comfortable and cozy, perfect for a new family.

Hanna and Kangmu had gotten married less than a year after the hostage crisis had ended. It had been a relatively hasty affair, but neither had cared much about extravagance, inviting only close friends and family to witness.

But one person they couldn't invite was Lim Sooho, the former Northern spy who'd died on the last day of the hostage crisis. The best they could do was put his picture on one of the tables. After all, he was the only reason Kangmu had come back to Seoul after a complicated and somewhat self-inflicted six-year-long exile, and why he'd been able to reunite with his fiancée, who'd been waiting for him that entire time. After such a long separation without the diminishing feelings of either Hanna or Kangmu for the other, hell itself couldn't tear them apart again, and they quickly married. Another year and a half had passed until Yeongro found herself once more standing inside the couple's suburban house.
