Lee Kangmu should've known better than to play defense.

It was his final week of training to become an ANSP agent, and one of the trials he had to pass was a mock infiltration mission. His class of about twenty recruits were taken from the agency's academy and dumped into the middle of a forest, given radios, short knives, and paintball guns, divided into two groups, and let loose. One team had the job of protecting an old, abandoned military base, while the other was tasked with breaking in and stealing some intelligence in the form of a sealed envelope in the middle of the base. Sometimes the game went on for an entire day.

Kangmu had already passed the trial as the breaking-in team. Now, he was on the side protecting the base. But an entire military base was a lot to cover for only ten guys, so they mainly focused on the central building where the envelope was stashed. Still, they were stretched thin. Kangmu was positioned right outside the basement door, which was the last place he'd ever expect anyone to try and break in. He leaned against the trunk of a thick oak tree and polished his knife, keeping his radio on so he could hear any communication from his teammates. The forest in the dead of winter was ghostly silent. The only sounds he could hear were of cars on the highway just outside the forest.

There was no way anyone could sneak up on him without him noticing from a mile away.

That was his mistake, getting cocky and letting his guard down. As soon as he relaxed, slipping his knife back into his boot and propping his gun up against the tree trunk, a rustling sound from above set his senses screaming on high alert, but it was too late. A thick black rope dropped down from the tree, and in the blink of an eye, a young woman in a camouflage uniform appeared, having dropped down from the leafless canopy.

"Annyeong," Jang Hanna, his longtime girlfriend, grinned at him, and before Kangmu could even make a move for his gun or knife, she attacked. Even though he was wearing thin body armor, each punch she landed on his torso still pushed him backwards a bit, hard enough to make him suspect she had on some brass knuckles under her gloves. Still reacting sluggishly due to the surprise, he sloppily blocked and parried her attacks, mentally cursing whoever had assigned them to different teams.

"Come on, Kangmu-ya," Hanna teased, looking like she hadn't even broken a sweat. "Surely you've got better than that."

He grunted, blocking another strike. "As far as I'm concerned, you haven't incapacitated me yet. The fight's still on."

The competitive grin she flashed him didn't help him as he tried to focus on not getting hit. Hanna was forcing him further and further away from the basement door. He stumbled backwards and accidentally tripped over a tree root protruding out of the ground. Hanna pounced on the opportunity and literally threw herself on top of him, making him lose any semblance of balance and fall straight on his back. Kangmu tried to roll out of the fall and come up standing, but Hanna made that all but impossible as she grabbed his arms and pinned them down.

"Hanna-ya!" He complained, struggling to free himself, but his efforts were futile.

"Mianhae," she said with a wicked smirk, though her breathing was a little more labored now. "Hey, we're both trying to graduate out of here. You've already passed. It's my turn."

Letting go of one of his arms but still keeping it trapped under her knee, she pulled out her radio.

"This is Galaxy. Entrance B is open. Team, go in."

Kangmu cursed and struggled, but he was too late. Already, the rest of Hanna's team had appeared out of nowhere and were swarming into the now-unguarded basement door. Once they were through, Hanna turned her attention back to Kangmu. She reached down to his belt, taking every possible tactical item— his knife, his radio, and his extra paintball rounds— and attaching them to her own belt. Then she grabbed his wrists and pulled a few zip ties from her pocket, binding his hands together.

"Is this really necessary, jagi?" Kangmu asked as she fastened the third zip tie around his wrists, hoping to at least pull some pity points or use their relationship as grounds for why she shouldn't leave him helplessly tied up in the middle of the woods.

It didn't work.

"I'm afraid so," she said with an unapologetic smirk. "Can't have you attacking us from the rear or alerting the rest of your team, can we?"

"They'll find out without my help."

"I'm sure they will," Hanna said. Keeping a grip on his wrists, she stood and hauled him up with her, pulling him over to the tree she'd dropped out of. The rope was still dangling from the branches. She forced his hands up and tied the rope to the small gap between his wrists, effectively locking his hands above his head and pulling his arms so far up that he had to almost stand on his tiptoes. The end of the rope was left free, and if he moved too suddenly, it would smack him in the face.

"Hanna!" Kangmu complained, trying in vain to free himself.

She smirked triumphantly. "Mian, sweetheart."

A couple more curse words fell from his mouth until Hanna shut him up with a kiss to his lips. Despite how annoyed he was at her for kicking his ass so soundedly, Kangmu kissed her back, only for her to pull away much quicker than he would've liked.

"There, does that make up for all this?" She asked, ruffling his dark hair.

"Anniyo," Kangmu grunted pitifully.

Hanna didn't seem bothered. She kissed him again, then pecked the tip of his nose.

"I should be getting back to my team. I'll see you after the game, darling. Annyeong!"

There was nothing Kangmu could do to stop her as she ran into the base after her teammates. To add insult to injury, she took his paintball gun with her.

He was not looking forward to the humiliation he was bound to face once his teammates or instructors found him like this.
