Both of their eyes locked on the pieces in front of them as a cold sweat ran over Hina's forehead.. The risk she took was calculated but looked like she was wrong... She started doubting her maths lessons with Cynthia now.. Taking a deep breath and calming herself down she made her move..
"There goes your rook Hina.." Clair said looking at the board making her move taking the knight and wiping the last useable piece except for the bishop as Hina squirmed in discomfort.. She impatiently tapped her legs against the table as Clair studied her body language.. Nervous and anxious.. Not too good.. In a haste to protect the king she moved the bishop as Clair chopped her head..
"You are way too nervous Hina.. Calm yourself and think what you did wrong.." She chided her as Hina looked at the blunder she commited on the chess board.. She moved the wrong piece not taking care of the knight behind the king..
"Checkmate sweetie.." She moved her knight as Hina sighed in defeat..
"Once more.." She grabbed all the pieces placing them back in frustration as Clair saw it.. Kids hate losing, not kids but anyone who is competitive.. She knew how it felt..
"Hina.." She held her tiny wrist pulling her on her lap as the girl looked at the chess board with her crimson eyes thinking of a way to defeat her mother..
"Good game.." She offered her hands to Hina who grumbled something about once more as she adjusted her over her lap making her look at her.. Her hand ran over her cheeks as she looked at her cerulean eyes with her sparkling crimson eyes.. Hina held her hand as Clair saw the reason to her discomfort and annoyance..
"So what was the deal Hina?" She asked..
"I won't eat the sweets.. It isn't that mama.. I want to defeat you.. Hina hates losing.." She complained out turning back as she adjusted the chess pieces once again..
"Losing is a part of life Hina.." She picked up the chess board looking at her phone seeing it late enough to fall asleep.. They were at it for hours now, she lightly placed her hands over her mouth yawning placing the chess board away sitting down on the bed as Hina turned around looking at the wall..
"Wanna hear a story?" Her ears perked up as she shot around looking at Clair.. She slowly pulled the sheets sitting on the bed as the girl crawled next to her.. She liked to hear about their past.. She liked hearing about her daddy's adventure, she liked learning about Sinnoh legends from Cynthia, talking about cloths and fashion to diantha, hearing stories from Clair.. She crawled on her lap grabbing her phone and the sheet turning the lights off..
"Is it about Celebi?" She asked as the bluenette lightly chuckled.. Hina's hand gripped the sheet covering both of them under the covers opening the flashlight placing them under the small tent made of sheets..
"No Hina, it is about something else you just learnt during our game.." She adjusted her tiny tent placing the flash away from their face as Hina's breath hitted her face..
"Really? So what is it about?" She asked.. Hina might hate losing but she didn't hated Clair. She liked competiting with her trying to win bets and making her do things she liked while Clair just played along. Sometime letting her win. Sometime letting her learn a lesson..
"You know i hated losing too.." She started..
"I was gym leader at blackthorn gym you know.. The dragon type gym in Johto.. If we are free, I will take you there.." She remembered her past thinking about it.. How sore loser she was. She chuckled and cringed at the same time thinking about it as Hina looked at her..
"It is just as i said. I hated losing.. I hated people who defeated me. I hated anyone who was stronger than me.. Whenever i lost I didn't gave them badges.. I was truly despicable woman.." She mumbled to herself..
