Ash's hand ran through the fluffy mane of the pokemon who cooed in response as Ash smiled.. It was about time the final act was enacted. The night of ritual was tomorrow.

"Why us? Can't you ask any one of your wives?" Paul asked Ash who checked the reign of the Rapidash loosening it a little as Ash's eyes rose to meet Paul's.

"You know that you are the only asshole i can count to protect the queen right.. We don't know how many more traitors are there.. About my wives.. Do you really think they will let me jump into a suicide mission just like that." Ash snorted as Paul sighed.. He was right. There was no way any one of those three would let him go to tree of life without any protection from their side..

"I will see what i can do. Then do me a favour.. No two favour.." Paul said standing in front of Ash..

"One.. Ask your old friends to do the same and two.. Return alive.. We haven't still dealt with the guy you call troy and Giovanni.. And i still have to make you pay for Sinnoh legue." Paul raised his two fingers as Ash nodded his head. But Paul saw the hesitation. Still decided to ignore it..

"I will try my best.. To not die." Paul walked back to the castle leaving Ash with Jane as they looked down the town of Rota which was done with the celebration. The banners were down, the shops were down but it was enjoyable while it lasted..

"I am gonna snitch you on Clair.. You just said you are gonna die.." Jane pointed her fingers toward Ash as he looked at her..

"They weren't my exact words.. Were they?" Ash said adjusting the saddle on the pokemon rubbing its neck as he sat on it trying to adjust to this new way.. He looked at Jane who looked conflicted..

For her. Clair and they were the first people who didn't treated her like a monster.. Didn't ever blamed her for anything. And she was grateful for that ever.. She knew she was different. That she did things in past that were unforgivable but there a feeling of respect between them and her..

"But.."

"You don't know what mess you get yourself in Jane.. I don't know about the mess i will get myself into.. Maybe something small or maybe something catastrophic.. I just don't know Jane.." He said getting off the pokemon as she walked in front of him.

"You can't die.." Her fist connected with his chest.. How much a single accident can change a person at all. Never in his life Ash expected to see the notorious Hunter J to beg him not to die..

"I will try my best not to.. Take care of Hina for me kay? Till we return. It might be a day or two but Lance suspect something might happen.." He said as Jane sighed.. Her eyes locked with Ash as he turned to face the sunset. The sun came up and down.. What did it signified. That after darkness a sunrise was sure to come or was it completely opposite..

Did it meant that darkness is sure to find a way into your cheerful life..

"There is something I.."

"Hmm.."

"Forget it.. Clair should talk to you about that. Anything else you want me to do." She asked as the man looked past her toward the castle..

"Keep charizard safe.. That guy is quite hurted after the big confrontation." He walked past her as she sighed.. Ash said a lot of things he shouldn't have.. Clair was her best friend, and so she shouldn't hide anything about her husband from Clair right but she saw the seriousness in his eyes.. And she decided to swallow it.

"I will." She said to herself finding Ash missing as she placed her hand on the Rapidash. A sigh escaped her lips on their own.. What would she tell Clair if something happen to Ash.. That he came to her asking to take care of the three of them and Hina.. That he would never return.. And what would she tell Ash about what she belived was true...
