"I knew there was some dragon in him!" Ed laughed.
I tried not to but bursted into laughter with him. It's not like he's wrong. I think it's safe to say that my best friend isn't exactly a pacifist. In fact, I'd go as far as to say he never has been, if me and Brine's conversations are anything to go by.
"Do all Ender-hybrids have 'a little dragon in them' or just the one's I've met?" I asked. "Because I'm starting to see a pattern."
"I mean, I like to think so, but not all of them are as threatening. It's just a good chunk of them." He chuckled. "Let's just be glad Endie also has the enderman's patience in him."
"Agreed." I giggled.
I pouted as Ed moved his arm from around me to scoot closer to the End crystal. He noticed, snickered, then patted the seat beside him. Instead, I just turned my back to him and lied down, using his lap as a pillow.
"Comfy?" He asked, sarcasticlly.
"Very." I answered.
Silence fell over the room and I slowly relaxed against him. Which is pretty easy, on account of the crackling fire and the blanket I stole from behind him. Is it colder than usual in the End or was I just in the Nether too long? Despite my comfort, it felt like something was off. Eventually, I got tired if it and poked his cheek. He looked down at me curiously.
"Did I upset you somehow?" I asked. I knew the answer but it snapped him out of whatever mood he was in.
"Of course not! Why would you think that?" Ed scoffed.
"You've been glaring into the End crystal for the last ten minutes." He stayed silent before sighing, placing a hand over my forehead.
"It's not you who annoyed me, don't worry." He answered. "It just ticks me off that Withe got a whole two weeks with you. Or that he was near you period. The man's a loose cannon."
"And you aren't?" I giggled. He almost looked offended and I smiled. "He reminded me a lot of you, actually."
"How???"
"Do you want an honest answer or a nice one?" I teased. He smiled and rose an eyebrow.
"As much as I'd love to hear you praise me, an honest one."
"You're both awkward loners." I began.
"OW." Ed scoffed and I giggled. "But continue."
"You both act really intimating at first, but you both didn't hesitate on being nice to me once things settle down." I explained. "Your loners but you welcomed me in anyway, and you can both get really awkward when I'm being extra nice to you." He looked a little annoyed again and I smiled sympathetically. "I wasn't too harsh, right?"
"Not at all. Honestly, I'm just trying to figure out if I'm offended or flattered." He stayed quiet for a second before letting out a soft sigh. "You don't act like this with him, too, do you?"
"If your asking if I like him like I like you, the answer is no." I chuckled and took his hand from my forehead, holding it in my own. "Ours is... different. It's true I want to be closer with Withe, but there isn't anyone I want to be this kind of close with but you."
I watched as he desperately tried to hold in a grin, but it really wasn't working. His face flushed and as soon as our eyes met, his darted away in embarrassment. Again I say: How can a man so intimidating be this cute? I laughed a bit and he joined me.
"I'm glad."
The silence that came after was a lot nicer and I melted into it with a relived sigh. I really did miss this. I missed him. I almost don't want to leave but I pushed that thought to the back of my mind.
I just want to enjoy now.
~~~~~~
"I'll see you later."
"You better."
I rolled my eyes and gave him a quick hug before hopping through the End portal. Notch was right, portal hopping from dimension to dimension is exhausting, but I haven't seen Creeps, Bones, and Endie all day and want to make it for dinner, no matter how tired I'll be when I get there.
Appearing in the basement of our house, I was a little surprised at how quiet it was. I walked upstairs and peaked out. There in the living room, Endie, Creeps, and Bones were all asleep. Bones still had dirt on his face so they didn't even get changed or anything beforehand.
I smiled. At least their safe. I quietly dimmed the light in the room and removed their fully-packed bags from around them, gently pushing Bones back onto his couch before he face planted onto the floor. Eh, it's not too late. I placed a blanket over each and quietly slipped into the kitchen.
Home sweet-
"So why bring up the Fairways??"
*sigh*
