"Wow."
Silence. I wiped my eyes, trying to hide the fact I cried even a little bit. What are all of these people doing to me? I'm not use to being so emotional. Endie says it's a good thing but I really don't think so. I probably look like a mess, all sniffly and red faced. And yet, Ed still smiled when he looked back at me.
"So, ignoring the fact your family kills me on a weekly basis-"
"Sorry."
"You did come here to relax, so that's what we're going to do." He stood up and I took his hand, letting him help me up. "How long are you staying?"
"Not too sure. Knowing Endie, probably a few hours." I smiled slightly and looked away. "Though you could stop him and Brine and I don't think I'd mind right now. But no more than a day!"
"Awe, your too smart for me, Anna." He teased. "But good, it's been too long since I saw you and I reeeally want to eat your pastries again."
"Hehe, no problem!" We headed for the kitchen, my mind debating on what to make. It's been a while actually. At least two weeks since the first day I was back home. I think this is the longest I've gone without baking anything.
"Can I ask to see something else, too?"
"Mhm."
"Proof you can actually throw a knife."
"Are you doubting me?" I scoffed.
"Absolutely." He smirked back.
"Fine than!" I huffed, proudly. "We'll start on the redstone buns and than it's straight to the Training room!"
"Huh. I didn't realize just how much I needed to see this side of you until now. It's entertaining." He chuckled, hands in his pockets. But I still saw movement. I glanced behind us to see he still had his wings and tail around. His tail swayed in a mischievous way, reminding me a little of a cat. He noticed me looking and looked behind us, tensing when he realized what he was doing.
"I can tell." I teased.
He quickly looked away, putting his end crystal necklace back on. All but his eyes hid the fact he's a dragon and any evidence of what just happened except the deep blush across his face. I couldn't help giggling up a storm and silently freaking out at how cute he can be, my own face going red.
We chatted as I got all the ingredients ready, only stopping so I could explain instructions to Ed. He's really good at cooking but baking eludes him a bit. Nothing practice can't help. Bluntly put: no one can be as bad at it as Endie, hehe.
"How's convincing Notch to let you out going?"
"Surprisingly well." I can sense the sarcasm. "He's only rejected it 5 times now!"
"Booo." I pouted but he chuckled, nudging me with his hip.
"Don't worry about it, bunny. How's being back home? Despite the reason for it."
"Good. I'm sure me and Arin will ruin it after we find Fred but they're all surprisingly OK with H being around. Then again, after having debts with him, I assume they are too afraid to say if they aren't."
"What's that about you and Arin?"
"We'll ruin it eventually. It's the same fight we've always had; Arin telling me I should stay and me wanting not to. Admittedly my baking dream has always been a good counter to it." I placed the last redstone bun on the pan and placed it into the furnace. "Can't exactly use that now."
"Why don't you?" I gave him a look and he put his hands up. "I don't mean helping them kill me or anything, but why not just stay there with them?"
"They always rope me into something or they'll use the fact I'll always find a way out of something to their advantage." I frowned, glaring down the hall. "They take it as a free pass to act stupid and one day they are going to take it too far. Farther than any of us can handle. Their my family, they love me and I love them, but they are all far too much like our parents. Never knowing when to stop until... Well. They die. Permanently."
"They sound stupid."
"Hey. Only I can call them that." I cracked a smile and he returned it. "And yeah, they are. My brilliant little idiots."
We entered the Training Room, my eyes darting from weapon to weapon. I've only seen this room once and that was during the tour. I didn't realize just how interesting it was until now. The left and right walls were lined in weapons and banners. The back wall has targets while close combat dummies lined the walls, ready to be taken out and used. -And than I remembered something.
"Dang it." I pouted. "I left my new knives at the base." I could hear Ed laughing through my whining. "Please tell me you've got good knives?"
"I never use them soooo-"
"I figured."
"But I know how to get some, wait here a sec."
He left and I took the time to look over all the weapons. Swords of varying sizes and lengths, bows, crossbows, shields, and daggers. Some were well kept and others were dull, something tells me the only reason some are well kept are because they've never been used. A few minutes later Ed came back in, handing me a rolled up case. I unrolled it to see a beautiful set of gold knives. Not the most durable and far from a good weight for me but they'll do for now.
"Will these do-" I whipped my arm towards a target with speed, the tip stabbing into the center. Hm. Better than I thought. I didn't hear anything else from Ed and looked over to see him staring wide eyed at me. "Anna, that was amazing!"
And there goes the blushing again. There's no way my aim will stack up today, he's way too good of a distraction.
