Not My Problem

"...So let me get this straight..."

"Oh no-"

"You, in your infinite wisdom, left a heartbroken and betrayed dragon locked in his realm, effectively grounding him for getting blackmailed and robbed blind." I stated, bluntly.

"I mean, that's a biased way to say that, but yes. Pretty much."

"No it isn't! It's a correct way of saying it! Do you realize how messed up that is?"

"Of course I do, but I had no choice!" He defended weakly. I scoffed hard and looked at him sternly. "Okay, fine. I had a few choices, but it was the heat of the moment, all I could really see was what he had done."

"Did you at least apologize?"
"For what?! He destroyed a city!"

"Notch, you left him to wallow in his own self pity for 10 years! Sure, yeah, I don't blame you for locking him up for destroying so much of the world, but I can absolutely blame you for the fact he hates just about everyone now."

"...Okay yeah, I see your point." He mumbled, awkwardly. "Frankly, you haven't even seen the half of it. For five years no one could set foot in the End without getting blasted off an island. Or killed point blank without so much as a roar."

"Oh no, I remember." I answered flatly.

By that point, I was 15 and was well into working for my dad. I remember the constant flow of dragon winnings slowing to a complete stop. Dad wouldn't even let any of us kids leave the Overworld. He was afraid all the Powers were at war again or something. That's when the business had to grow. We couldn't only work with End-related business anymore and we quickly went from mainly fighting the dragon to doing mercenary jobs on the side.

"So you do remember it." Notch hummed. Get outta my head! "But still. There's nothing we can do about it now except wait till he's tired of this fight."

"First off, that's just going to make it worse. What? Do you want him to wage war on mortals when he gets out?" I scoffed.

"Yet another very good point. No wonder you were the negotiator." Notch answered. He's gone from frustrated to numb already. I wonder how many times he's been nagged like this now. "Too many times to count, dear."

"Secondly, who said this was a 'we' situation? I just wanted to know why Eddy couldn't leave, and Brine and Wither didn't lock him in a void before comforting him. Your on your own." I answered, annoyed.

"Oh come on, you know you want to help fix this." Notch almost pouted.

I held back my thoughts, not entirely sure if he was still listening, but we both knew I do want to help. But I just got out of being kidnapped for two weeks, however little danger I was in. I can't keep dealing with everyone else's problem, eventually someone's going to hate me for it.

"Notch, I've barely gotten to see him already. I don't want to make that barely a never." He rolled his eyes and smiled.

"He would never do that. Your his angel." I held back a smile and looked away from him. "Besides, without the bakery, aren't you bored with all this quiet peace?" Yes...

"That doesn't mean I want to start chaos instead." I mumbled.

"It won't be chaos, I pormise. All you would have to do is get him here and stay with us while we hash things out. You simply being around kind of keeps us all in check."

"Not last time." We heard.

We both turned to see Brine standing behind me. Normally I notice when he pops in, but Notch had me distracted. I'm surprised he didn't call me out on it. Instead he gave me a once over before narrowing his eyes at his brother.

"What are you getting her into, brother?" I held back a smile but a giggled slipped out anyway. What with this hypocrisy? It's hilarious.

"Hypocrisy indeed." Notch huffed, bitterly. "I'm not getting her into trouble, I just need her help with Ed. What's biting you?"

"I'm not ready for another 'Great Powers War'. And one of us isn't immortal and keeps forgetting that." I pouted and looked away from them. I've done just fine by myself, dang it.

"There are easier ways to say your worried about your mortal friend, brother." Notch teased and Brine glared at him. Brine glanced down at me and I couldn't help giggling a little. He sighed and looked back at his brother.

"Fine. I'm worried about her, but my point still stands."

"This is Ed we're talking about. Do you really think he'd hurt her?"

"Not on purpose. But bringing you into the equation pisses him off enough to make me question."

"You seriously messed up that badly?" I asked.

"It seems like it take a lot to get this far, but it does not take a lot to get this far. These boys are petty." Notch answered and I laughed.

"You say 'these boys' like you aren't one of them." Brine scoffed and looked down at me. "All I did was call him old and suddenly I'm more electrified than a lightening rod."

"Don't be an idiot and you won't get bolted, but we're getting off topic." Notch huffed. "If your so worried, than join us when it happens. Maybe then we can get you out of your own doghouse."

"My what?" Brine asked, curiously. And on that note, I shook my head and pulled the office door open again.

"I'm going back to Ed's. We can talk about the rest later." I hummed. Notch smiled happily and I sighed. "Yes, that means I will help you. Just... promise me there won't be a fight."

"He can't-"
"I'll make sure of it."

I rose an eyebrow as Brine narrowed his eyes at Notch, who was ignoring him. As much as I'd like to call him out on that, I really would like to get back to my good mood before Ed respawns. So instead, I shook my head and closed the door behind me.

I'll deal with this later.
