"Woman, you are brilliant."
They were sitting around in the living room, talking about her month long planning to find a way back here. She waited long enough that Endie would be over it and started making a bunch of desserts to see what they all liked better. Both from her wanting to make them what they like- and as bargaining chips. She knew bribing Endie wouldn't work, but Brine couldn't care less as long as she's unharmed. A month of planning but also a month of thinking. When she wasn't thinking of plans, she was thinking about Cobble Rock. She felt guilty for all the people who didn't have the friends she has so ended up dying. Anna was having nightmares of times that use to be good memories for her. She didn't notice till a few days after meeting Ed, that those thoughts weren't here. He kept her distracted from them, both with fun and her fear of getting eaten.
"Why don't you come to the Overworld if you have duplicate dragons?" She asked. He'd mentioned sending a duplicate to deal with the challengers today and she couldn't help but be curious. He frowned, lying back against the couch and looking up at the ceiling. "Sorry, did I hit a soft spot?" She asked worriedly.
"No, no. Well, yes, but it's been 10 years since it happened. I don't mind saying it anymore." He answered. "I got on Notch's bad side a long time ago. I destroyed a city or two when I got angry and he didn't appreciate it." He glared at the ceiling, remembering Anna's explanation of why she just met Creeps and Bones. "But apparently there is bias. Anyway, he's magically locked me away in my own realm. I can't leave. Unless I want to go talk to Notch, but he always says no to letting me leave, so I see no point in trying again."
"I do." She said. He smiled, even chuckled slightly. This isn't a fun topic for him.
"Oh really? And what is that?" She smiled and climbed farther onto the couch, going up to lean against the back of it so she could look him in the eyes to say it.
"To come visit me!" She giggled. "I want to be able to hang out with you without having to sneak to the End and being afraid a duplicate is going to get me instead of you. And if it bothers you so much, you must miss it. You've missed a lot in just the last few years. It'd be so fun to show you some of the new biomes, maybe we could even convince Endie to come."
He enjoyed seeing her smiling towards no where in particular, seeing her excited for adventures that might never happen. Notch will never let him leave, but he couldn't tell her that. He wanted to keep her like this. He wanted to keep her. However, he knew he couldn't. Seeing her upset about it would make him feel bad, he was sure of it.
"Eddy? Yohoo?" He snapped out of his staring and moved to stand up, and totally not to try hiding his mistake. How long was zoning out?
"You have to be hungry, too, Anna." He said, stretching. "How about we go have lunch?"
"Sounds great, I'm starving!" She answered, hopping up beside him. They made their way down the hall in comfortable silence. She was about to go look through the chests when he said 'Nope' and scooped her up, setting her down at the table. "What's up?"
"I want to make you something now." He chuckled, rolling up the long sleeves of his shirt. "I've been practicing." He said, sounding purposely more snuddy about it. She laughed and got comfortable.
"Oh really? I can't wait. Whatcha making, Chef Eddy?"
"I just love hearing that name." He sighed and turned towards the food chests. "But you'll have to wait, sweetheart. It's a surprise."
"Booo."
She watched him cook, not exactly entranced but simply enjoying him being around. She didn't know why she enjoyed being around him so much, she had her theories but she really didn't know. The same went for him, but right now he just felt flustered. She didn't notice but every once and a while he'd mess up his rhythm or end up almost forgetting something he usually remembered simple because she was watching him.
A little while later he had finished, immensely depressed that it didn't look as nice as it had the last time he made it. 'It's just porkchops, how did I f-it up so bad?' He was pouting at his own but she smiled, trying her own plate of it.
"Hey, Eddy?"
"Sorry, I know it's terrible."
"No it isn't, just try it." She giggled.
"My appetite is gone with my skill."
She rolled her eyes and stabbed some of the cut up porkchop with her fork, leaning over to offer it to him. He sat up, slightly surprised. She smiled sweetly at him and he already knew he couldn't refuse. He took a bite and she took her fork back, waiting for his answer.
"Huh. Don't judge a book I guess." He chuckled, giving her a small grin. She shook her head and started eating hers after he started eating his this time.
"It tastes delicious, don't worry about how it looks."
"Says the one who makes beautiful pastries all day." She scoffed.
"You can only say that because I burn the others before anyone can see them." She answered, making him almost choke from laughing.
"Really?"
"No one's eyes must see them."
"Stop your going to make me choke!"
"They never got the chance to do that."
He couldn't stop laughing and she kept it that way before bursting into non-stop laughter herself. Brine leaned in the doorway, unnoticed and smiling.
Yeah, he wasn't disturbing this. He turned and teleported back to argue with Endie. She owes him so much food for this.
